Are you a night owl or a morning bird?
"Well, he was no help." Five said the moment they stepped out of the building with too-white everything.
"Fine. We'll come back for him later." Emery turned to Five. "Do you really have no idea what causes the apocalypse this time?"
Five sighed and dug his hands into his pockets. "I wished I did, Emery. Really."
"Well," Emery said, searching for any sense. "There wasn't supposed to be a nucelear explosion before we got here, right? So what changed?"
"Besides us? Nothing."
"So something we did or are going to do causes the apocalypse. But what?"
"The question we're all tryning to figure out." Five said, storming away.
Emery rolled his eyes and raced after the boy. "You know, maybe this time we could try not to argue as much. We'd be more efficient with the limited amount of time we've got."
"Good idea." Five said. "Just don't say anything stupid and we're good."
"That's hardly possible given you take to everything so lig- you know what. Forget it, who do you want to see next?"
"Well, who's the closest?"
Emery thought for a moment. "Well, Luther would be. But there's no way we could find him in the day. We'd have to wait for the night."
"Why?"
"Take a wild guess. It's Luther, with unrestricted acess to a new life. What do you think he did with it?" Emery held his hands wide to express his point.
"He would throw it all away. Just like Diego." Five said. "But he wouldn't end up in jail or anything like that. An underground boxer?"
"How- could you possibly know. You're right, but still."
"What can I say, Emery. I know my family." Five shrugged, pulling him along and further into the town, saying something about looking at today's issue and any street ads for a fight.
They didn't end up finding Luther through Five's method but after talking with this burly guy in a sketchy underground pit (he had a wound from a fight he had just won and blood was spilling down his eye and into his mouth as he spoke), they were able to find out more about Luther- his favorite spots to go after a fight, what he was like, who he was usually seen with, and stuff like that.
It had taken an immense amount of threatening from Five until they started getting answers and by the end of the whole exhcnage when the man was sent scurrying out from the pit because of the glare Five was sending his way, Emery was trying- and failing to hide his smile. He may not have missed the boy and his abnormally tall socks or ridiculous school outfit, but he sure as hell was an amazing source of entertainment when it came to threatening people and watching them (even men with literal blood seeping down his face turn ashen and childish in bravery which is to say- none).
"With all the answers I got out of that fool, I bet we're gonna find him here." Five said, pointing to a certain spot on a map. Emery cursed.
"Of course, I should have figured. When I first ran into him, he was there."
"What were you doing at a strip club?" Five demanded.
"It's not really a strip club, Five it's more mundane-"
"A strip club." Five left no room for discussion. "A high end syrup club where entitled businessmen get what they aren't satisfied with at home. The real question is, what is a man like Luther doing there?"
