Are you the life of the party or hide in the corner type of person?

They arrived soon after as Emery acting as navigator and Lila providing little quips on how to get there faster, what routes to avoid, and when Five should really think about giving pedestrians just another second before he went driving forward.

The boy parked the vehicle a fair bit further away from all the others to remain discreet and they walked the rest of the way, peering over the bridge first to get a good survey of the area before they moved forward, crouching behind the side of an old car as they watched people enter the building.

"So what's the plan?" Lila asked.

"We infiltrate, we identify, we extract. Double time." Diego said.

"What the hell is he talking about?" Lila whispered, asking Five who had come up behind her, Emery behind him.

"Find the old man and get out fast." Five explained.

"That's what I said. On me." Diego said, moving forward across the parking lot so he could duck behind another car further forward.

"After you two." Lila insisted. But now there's of them moved. "What, I can't be polite?" She asked.

"Cut the crap. All right? My dim witted brother might buy your bullshit, but I don't trust you for a second." Five said, voice low and dripping with malice.

"O ye of little faith." Lila said.

"Stick it up your ass." Five bit back.

Lila smiled sarcastically, rolling her eyes and moving to follow after Diego.

"You know," said Emery as Five's own smile dropped into a glare as he watched her go. "making enemies with her right now isn't the best of ideas. It's fine to be suspicious, but hide it better. It'll give you the upper hand later. Ever think of that?"

"Is that why you're always so nice to her? Why you two seem fast on pace to becoming buddies?" Five asked but he didn't provide enough time for Emery to respond before he was moving again. Emery just sighed as he followed the boy.

They snuck in through a side door that Five unlocked for them and immersed themselves into the crowd. Emery looked around and wished only for a moment that he had brought the tie with him.

"I don't see Dad anywhere." Diego said mere seconds after entering. And in that time, they had already been offered champagne in tall flutes that Emery passed on to Lila moments upon receiving it. She just winked at him, mouthed a 'thank you' and downed the thing in two gulps.

"Just keep an eye out for the Majestic Twelve. Emery and I got the upstairs." Five said. "Diego, try not to do anything too stupid."

"Last time I said that, he snuck up on a human bomb and nearly killed us all." Emery noted.

Lila laughed but it died down quickly when she noticed no one else was laughing alone nor smiling. "Oh." She said. "You're not kidding."

Emery smiled awkwardly. "Right. Have fun you two." He said, tugging Five away and up the steps.

They slowed their pace as they got closer to the top and heard voices, coming to a stop until they passed and they knew they would be out of sight once they stepped out into the hall.

Men all in tailored suits were filtering into one room, twelve of them in total and all donning looks that told any rational man to stay away. Unlucky for them, Emery and Five were not rational, nor were they men.

They were just two boys trying to stop another apocalypse by any means necessary. Which in this case, meant teleporting inside the closet to eavesdrop on an obviously highly secretive meeting.
