A knock sounded through the room from the door and Hoody huffed, pulling away from me. "Guess that's my cue to leave." He froze for a second before reaching up and ripping off his mask, surprising me. I wasn't given a chance to study his face before he turned around and opened the door, pushing past the people in front of it.

"Did he just-"

"He did." Katie confirmed as five people made their way into our small dorm room.

Carrie looked at Katie with a confused expression, clearly wanting to ask about him. "Who was that?"

I quickly answered, surprisingly truthful. "My soulmate, Brian. I found him the other night and he's quite lovely, but a bit shy, so pardon his sudden leave." I knew it wasn't the best idea to tell them who he was, especially his real name, but it's what I could come up with.

"Yeah, he's really nice, but very closed off. I was surprised he was even comfortable enough to meet me!" Katie backed up my half-lie. Hoody was only sweet during certain moments, but those were very rare. Man is crazy, but I'm stuck with him, so I can't complain.

Stacy, my wonderful friend who was too trusting of her friends for her own good, clapped excitedly with a warm smile. "I'd really love to meet him whenever he's ready to meet us."

"Same with me!" Carrie chimed in, jumping up and down in her place a few times.

I smiled gently at the excitable pair. "I'm glad to have you guys so excited about meeting him." I caught Lukas smiling gently with a loving gaze directed toward his soulmate, which placed a sense of longing in my gut that I ignored. I would most likely never get such a beautiful thing with Hoody.

Hunter stole everyone's attention as he huffed. "He can't be that great. Plus, why can't he just meet us before he runs off to do who knows what? It isn't that hard to meet people, ya know." His voice was heavily laced with clear jealousy. What a way to ruin a mood. I glared at him for his words. Yeah, Hoody wasn't the best guy, but I wasn't about to let anyone talk shit about my soulmate.

"Oh, shut the actual fuck up, Hunter. You're obviously jealous of the fact that everyone in this damn room has found their soulmate or some shit that you're being even more of an asshole than usual. Don't fucking shit talk Brian like that!" I yelled, lashing out and taking a few angry steps toward him.

The blond's blue eyes widened at my outburst. "I was jealous that the girl I like fucking found her soulmate, not the fact that everyone else found theirs, Star." He responded with the same amount of anger.

I faltered for a second before quickly regaining my composure. Taking a step back and a deep breath, I pointed at the door. "Get the hell out of my dorm." He scoffed and left without so much as a glance at the others. "Sorry about the argument." I apologized as I turned back toward the others.

Katie looked stunned at the verbal fight occurring between her best friend and her roommate. Carrie gave me a look of pity and Stacy frowned, holding Lukas's hand gently in hers. Lukas had no response to the situation, and Camryn looked at me somewhat proud.

My phone buzzing was the next thing that dragged all attention to it, and I quickly grabbed the electronic, heart squeezing a little at the name. He was one of the only people who texted me nowadays, but I was still slightly surprised. Did he hear our argument? Probably, to be realistic. It's Hoody we're talking about here.

Hoody

Interesting conversation. First, you tell them a bit about me and use my real name. Then, you told your friend off for speaking shit about me. Go off, I guess.

I wasn't about to let anyone talk shit about my soulmate right in front of me
Sorry, I had to tell them about you and I used your real name
You also turned around too quick for me to see that face of yours

Good. You won't be seeing it until I feel comfortable enough to show you or you see my face accidentally.

What if I 'accidentally' rip off your mask?

Then you'd be dead, kid.

Damn

They're all watching you silently and trying to read over your shoulder. Put your phone away and hang out with your friends while you still can.

Talk to you later, then

I suppose.

I set down my phone on my bed with its face shoved into the blanket. Glancing out the window into the trees, I noticed a bit of yellow and grimaced slightly before turning to my friends with a bright smile. "So what are we doing during this lovely hangout today, my friends?"
