"You told me you wanted to travel, Paris, Rome. Well let's go."
Elio couldn't decide if he should cry or kiss him more. What he decided to do shocked him slightly. "Okay! Let me go tell my parents."Elio made his way into his father's office. His father was looking through books and pictures, his mother reading a book and drinking orange juice.
"Uhm" Elio started.
"Ah hello!" His father smiled. His mother however had watched the door shut, she'd seen Oliver stood outside the door as it shut. She knew what was going to be said. His father moved to sit with her on the couch.
"Dad, how did you know you loved mom? I mean, really loved her, like when you knew you'd marry her?"
Annella's eyes widened; marry? I never knew Elio would feel so strongly about someone.
"Well, she was everything to me." Mr Perlman said, thinking back. "Still is, of course" Annella chuckled.
"I'd wake up, go to sleep, walk into town, go to work, eat, drink, sit, anything. And while I did I'd always think about her. She was the first person I would tell anything, and she was just so important to me I wanted to keep it that way forever."
"Aw. How about you mama?" Elio turned his attention to his mother, who was so obviously blushing. Annella, knowing why he'd ask this, looked at him and smiled intently. "I think that you only find your person once. They may come and go but you never stop thinking about them." She knows what I'm doing, Elio thought, trying not to look panicked.
"I believe that once you have found them you hold them forever, never letting go. Don't loose them. Even if they aren't with you directly they'll always be in your thoughts and your heart."
"Elio, why are you asking such things?" Mr Perlman looked puzzled, but was starting to catch on. He remembered the conversation he'd had with Elio when Oliver left. You have a beautiful friendship. Maybe even more than a friendship.
"Well, I think I've found my person. In fact, I know I've found them."
The door was still open a crack, and Oliver heard everything. He slumped into the wall, flustered by Elio's words and scared of what comes next.
Mr and Mrs Perlman looked to each other, then back at Elio.
"Oliver?" Annella asked.
Elio looked back to the door, then nodded, smiling.
Mr Perlman stood up and ran to Elio, pulling him into a very tight hug. He could barely breathe, but he didn't care.
"It's perfect. You two are perfect!" He says excitedly, holding on to Elio's shoulders and shaking him gently with each sentence. He moves and Annella comes up. She kisses Elio on the cheek.
"I've never been more happy for you" she smiles. Elio rolls his eyes, she's really tearing up over this?
Elio walks over to the door, swings it open and looks to Oliver.
"How did it go?" Oliver whispers, pretending he hadn't heard anything.
Elio reached out a hand. Oliver took it. He pulled Oliver into the doorway, in-front of his parents, and kissed him. Oliver was slightly shocked, but so relieved and excited. The sun was still rising, it's brilliant rays shot through the window, until Elio and Oliver were just a silhouette in a pool of gold. Annella clapped her hands together and smiled. Mr Perlman however was already planning all the ways he can tease Elio. But was also excited to see this relationship grow.
"Elio, that room next to your room is too small for you to sleep in now, how about you bunk with Oliver instead?" He winks at Elio and Annella snickers.
"Actually Proffesor..."
