There are people in the world who seem born into roles, and Sen was one of those people. Sen is an orphan from the village of Ebume in the province of Mutsu, high in the northern provinces of Nihon. Loosely cared for by his abusive grandfather, Sen's early life was full of abuse and trauma, but he was looked after and taken care of by the kindly monk Myugou and the yokai, Hashi. After having grown up bullied and reviled, Sen lived a solitary life until he was forced to leave his hometown when Hashi came down with The Rot. The two set off together in search of a cure across the land and acquire an intrepid group of companions along the way. His new friends lead Sen out of his shell and help shape him into the man he needs to be to see the journey through.
Locally, he is known as The Wolf of Ebume for his lean, gaunt appearance. His nighttime defense of his town from raiders spurred on local legends that he was a spirit of a deceased warrior who defended his village alongside a demon. Despite the rumors of his martial prowess, Sen is a very reserved man who plays his feelings close to his chest. Myugou instilled in him a deep sense of honor and selflessness, and he seeks to help people out of this gentle inner nature. The only person he has ever truly opened up to is Hashi, who he views as a brother and his dearest, closest friend. His lack of friends and general interaction with people does mean he has a tendency to miss out on more subtle aspects of people's words, and his blunt nature causes more than one awkward scenario.

Rumors abound about Hashi and who he once was. The truth is more complex than most know, and the uncomplicated yokai gives few hints about his life before his curse. Once a mighty samurai of the Heian Era, Hashi now lives a life of seclusion as the protector of the village of Ebume. He is old friends with Myugou, and a new friend to Sen. Caring for his young friend gave Hashi a newfound purpose in life, and it is a duty he enjoys without incident until a fateful battle leads him to contracting The Rot. He and Sen journey to find the cure with their group of companions, and his mind is eased at knowing that even if the worst of fates should befall him, that Sen will not be alone after he is gone.
