It's been five years since I been home. Five years ago, I got an opportunity to go to college. It was one of the most tough decision I got to make, but Steve wanted the best for me and I couldn't fight him on it, knowing that he was the only person I had left in my family. Within a year, my father Joseph died in a car accident and my mother Sarah died from an illness that she couldn't shake off. Ever since then, It just been me and Steve and occasionally Bucky, Steve's best friend, running the family ranch.
Truthfully, I had no rush to come back home after all this time, but dealing with stalking ex's does that to you. At least I can be safe here. No drama, just spending time with Steve, like old times.
I yank my luggage out from the taxi and waved him off as drove. I quickly jogged over to the back door, pulling my luggage with me and place it next to me. Where I kneeled down and collected the key from its hiding spot, the fake rocks. At least that hasn't changed. I gently turn the key clockwise as I push it through the keyhole and pulled down the handle, allowing the door to swing open.
"Steve?.... Stevie?... I'm home! " I shouted as I struggled to get the case over the threshold and leaving it in the kitchen as I huffed. I know I was over-packed, but what was I supposed to do? I needed to just get away from it all. I continued to walk around the house, calling out for Steve once again. "Hey dumbass, thanks for picking me up." Yet I'm greeted with silence. Maybe he was out near the barn doing some work or something.
I lock the door behind me as I took a quick walk to our beautiful blue barn. Can't believe how blue it still is, even after all this time. Steve argued so much with dad as a kid to have it like this. Guess dad gave in to Steve quickly, probably because he spent most of his time in hospital or not being allowed to leave the house after a few attacks of asthma and the other stuff he suffered with. I squeeze myself through the barn doors.
"Steve? You in here?" A few horse neigh as I spoke. "Seriously? Where the hell are you?" I whispered as too not to spook the horses. I walk more in as I notice a beautiful chestnut horse, blossom. My beautiful blossom. I gently step closer to her as not to scare her and carefully pat her on the side. "Hey baby.. You miss me?" I snuggled on face against hers and she neighs in excitement. "Shall we go for a ride?" I asked her and I grab my gear, tiring it over her. I pull on her reins, moving her out of the barn. Once out Immediately jump on her and start riding straight away. God, how I miss times like this. Me, Steve and Bucky used to ride together to the lakes every weekend on the dot. Even after our parents went it became a tradition to do it together each weekend until I left, who knows if they still carried it on or not but I hope so.
Blossom gallops across the field, I pull her in as we stayed in a few moment of slience. I watch as the tree moves gently with the wind and the birds fly high. Peaceful. I miss peaceful place like this. The only peace, I got in those five years where hiding in the library. I softly chuckle to myself. Blossom nickers as she ready to set off again. I gently bend over and pat her on her neck.
"I know Blossom. You ready to go, ain't you? Let me just enjoy this moment, a little longer." Blossom neighs in disagreement.
"Woah girl. It's okay we... Shit." I brace myself on Blossom as she rears violently, fear enters her eyes. "Easy!" I hold on to the saddle horn tightly but Blossom shows no signs in calming down. She races across the field, neighing in hysterics. "Please Blossom. It's me. Y/n. Calm down, girl." Shit if I don't calm her down, she's going to throw me off soon.
"Come on sweetheart." Suddenly, a figure appeared in front. Sadly I cant tell who it is due to Blossom kicking off and the hot sun bleeding my eyes. The figure reach to me and pull on the bridle. Pulling blossom back down to the floor.
"Calm down, girl." The figure pulls hard on the reins and blossom seem to stay calm. In that moment, the figure pull me down from my waist. I gasp as I hit his strong musclely body, I slowly bring my eyes up from the floor, seeing the figure is a man wearing boots, blue jean with a belt and buckle plus completely topless and wearing a cowboy hat. I pulled away from him.
