Arex's POV

"Hello, Mr. Carter? This is Jonathan Brinalt, we met at the grocery store earlier."

I tried so hard not to squeal in delight, his calling must mean something good, I hope. "Yes, Mr. Brinalt, this is Mr. Carter, but please just call me Arex."

"Of course, Mr. Car-, Arex. I was just calling to tell you that Blake decided that she would like to get in contact with you, and her friend Miss Finley Marl?"

I swear I stopped breathing. "Really? She wants to get in contact with us?" I said kind of breathless.

"Yes, I already gave her your number, she still has Miss Marl's number, but I was also given permission to give you guys her new number."

"Thank you, thank you so much Mr. Brinalt. You don't understand how happy this makes me." I said smiling.

"Yes, but I will warn you. She may not be very fond of opening up, but please, don't give up on her, Ok? She has been through some stuff that I'm not going to tell you. That is her job whether or not she wants you to know. Please don't hurt her any more than she already is, that is all I beg of you."

"Yes, of course, Mr. Brinalt. I would never give up on her, nor ever dream of hurting her."

"Well, that is all, I shall message you her number right after this call. Have a good night Arex."

"Have a good night Mr. Brinalt." I hung up.

I couldn't believe my luck, I sprinted into the kitchen, "Blake wants to get in contact with us Fin. She wants to talk to us." I said breathlessly.

Blake's POV

'The one thing that I didn't want to happen, happened. My first time leaving the house and I ran into somebody that I knew, great. Gosh, how could I be so stupid? Now he was going to have so many questions, and there was a girl with him. Now they both are going to tell everyone they know that they saw the reclusive Blake Thomas.' I thought to myself while sitting in the car waiting for Jon to come out of the store.

Jon finally came out of the store with all of the groceries in his hand. I know it was probably rude of me to leave him to carry everything himself, but he wouldn't have let me carry anything anyway considering I can barely stand on my own.

"I don't know why I wanted to come with you. This is bad, Arex saw me. He is going to tell a bunch of people that he saw me. What am I going to do? There will be so many people with so many questions, and then someone will notify the reporters so they can get credit for who knows what." I say freaking out the second Jon opens the door.

"Woah, calm down dear. This was good. You need to be able to reconnect with people. Learn how to be social again. If I remember correctly you used to be quite the social butterfly."

"Yea, I was, notice the past tense, was. Do you really expect me to want to be social after what happened? That night, something inside me died, and the social part of me is a part of that something."

"Blake, I'm sorry, I just want you to get better, and leaving the house plays a great role in helping you heal and move on. Maybe talking to a therapist will help you get back out into the real world or your nightmares." I was about to tell Jon that I don't have nightmares. "Don't even try to deny me, I know you still get them. I know you way better than that." I sighed and rolled my eyes.

I decided to just stare out the window and just watch the scenery pass by in green blurs until the silver gates that led up to my home came into my view.

"Do you want your wheelchair, Blake?"

"Yea," I said with a tinge of sadness hidden in my voice.

Even though it's been 6 years, I always start to tear up when I realize that my legs won't work normally ever again. I'll never be able to dance, drive, or even stand for longer than 25 minutes without my legs going numb.

Tears start to collect in my eyes, and I feel Jon's arms around my waist.

"It's ok, it'll all be ok Blake. Everything will turn out for the best."

As much as I wanted to scream out that nothing would ever be ok again, I couldn't stop crying. Gosh, I'm so pathetic. I need to stop crying, it is so unnecessary. It makes me look weak, and that is the last thing that I need.

Eventually, I calmed down and stopped crying.

"I'll be right back with your chair, ok?" I nodded and Jon kissed my forehead before going into the house and grabbing my wheelchair.

Jon came back out and helped me get in my chair, grabbed the groceries and we headed inside the house. After we got all of the groceries put away and the kitchen cleaned up, I was about to head up to my room to read before dinner when I heard Jon call me from the main living room on the main floor.

"Yeah?"

"Just hear me out here, ok? After you went to the car, Arex and I conversed for a few minutes. He seemed like a very nice kid. He also wants to getincontactwithyou." Jon said rushing the end.

"What?"

"Arex wants to get in contact with you."

I started freaking out a little bit. "What did you tell him? Did you say that I want to? Because I don't"

"No, I told him not to get his hopes up but that I would ask you. Would you ever consider the idea of getting in contact with him? He also said that Miss Marl also would like to be able to talk to you. I just thought that since you are trying to get back out there and such, maybe it would be good for you to reach out to your old friends, and try and rekindle that friendship, ya know?"

"Jon, I don't know. I don't think that I'm ready to actually talk to people. What if they ask questions that I can't answer? What if they ask about what happened, or why my party was canceled? Or-" I paused, "Did you say Finley wants to talk to me? She doesn't hate me?

"I think you are ready; you have come so far since that night. I think that you should at least start by talking to Miss Marl. And to answer your stupid question, no, of course she doesn't hate you. why would she hate you?"

I thought about it for a while going through the pros and cons. "Ok, I guess I will talk to them, but I'm only going to start with Fin."

"Alright, let me tell them."

"How are you going to do that? Do you know where they live?" I asked confused.

"Oh, no, I have Arex's number. He gave me his back at the store so that I could tell him if you wanted to talk to them." Jon said chuckling.

"Okay, well go ahead and tell him, I'm going to go up to my room. Call me down when dinner is ready."

"Alright, Blake."

I took that as my cue to leave so I headed toward the elevator and up to my room thinking about what I was going to say to Finley when I talked to her for the first time in 6 years.
