TWENTY FIRST • Never Not Yours

Two weeks had passed and Vegas' still ignoring Pete.

While Las pursued to court Pete since that night, Pete clearly told Las that he can't return his feelings because Vegas owns his heart.

But they are on good terms, they are like friends who always hang out everywhere and sometimes with Sunee.

Just one month and the school year will be over, Las and Vegas will graduate and Pete will be in his fourth year.

Maybe that's the reason why Vegas is busy? Pete asked himself.

Their professor's discussion ended and Sunee clung her arm to Pete's arm, they left the classroom together., "So how was your job?" Sunee asked.

"It's okay, my mission is more difficult than before so I had a bit of a hard time today." Pete answered truthfully.

He is still wondering who spread the information of his colleagues, and only his information was not told.

Vegas and his new boyfriend, whom Pete often sees at the university, are still hanging out.

"Bestie, it's Las." Sunee pointed and Pete followed with a look.

Las is approaching them while carrying a load of books, "Have you eaten yet?" asked Las.

Pete reached for his handkerchief, "Wipe your sweat, you look ugly." he said to Las.

"I'll take that first!" Sunee said to Las and took the books from him.

They started walking to the canteen., "Are you busy?" Pete asked Las.

Las nodded to him and raised the handkerchief., "This is mine now."

"How are you and Vegas?" asked Las but Pete just shook his head and shrugged his shoulders.

They sat at a table and all the students were looking at them. Pete just glared at them so they went back to what they were doing. They ordered the food they normally eat together and ate peacefully.

Pete decided to himself that he was going to check out Vegas today. He can't control his emotions anymore, to at least he can have peace in his mind and heart.

Pete saw Vegas and his new boyfriend walk in together. Las noticed and he tries to ease the tension by teasing Pete about his school clearance requirements.

"Shut up, you're my senior. You should help me." said Pete, Las successfully got his attention.

"Then treat me at Jae Yok's later."

"Maybe next time. I have something to do later at night."

Las sighed but he understands. They continued eating and when finished, they parted ways. Sunee with Pete, returned to their classroom.

After four hours, the class dismissed.

They started preparing to go home, while Pete musters up the courage to talk to Vegas.

Not far away, he saw Vegas with his two friends.

He quickened his pace to reach the parking lot and luckily, he was not disappointed as he reached Vegas before getting into the car.

"Vegas." he called.

"Pete? How are you? Come, I'll give you a ride." said Vegas.

Pete hesitated before deciding to go, he really needed to talk to Vegas.

They were far away from the university but no one was talking yet so he broke the silence, "Vegas did I do something wrong to you? Why are you doing this to me?" said Pete, holding back his tears.

He remembered what Las said, 'don't cry, you look ugly when your face is sad!'

Pete continued, "Are you mad at me? Or did I do something you didn't like?"

"It's nothing, I just have to do it because our clan is in danger." Vegas finally spoke up.

"What's at stake? What does that have to do with me? Vegas, it's easy to say if you don't like me. I'll be fine, just be true to me!"

"The whole Mafia has found out who you are. About us, they know that we're a thing and I'm working on a way to mislead them, they only know your name but not what you look like."

"What?" All this time, he just misunderstood?

"I like you Pete, I really do. So please, trust me okay?"

Pete breathed a sigh of relief. This is both a bad and a good news. He didn't know if he's being stupid or if he just really loves Vegas that much.

But Pete knows he can deal with it himself alone, why did Vegas need to meddle? Vegas can just save their clan, and Pete can save himself, they don't need to separate for the sake of it!

"Okay. I trust you, just don't ignore me again."
