TBD | Five Hargreeves x Reader (any gender)

Prologue

On the 12th hour of the first day of October, 1989, forty-four women around the world simultaneously gave birth. This was unusual only in the fact that none of these women had been pregnant when the day first began.

Sir Reginald Hargreeves (The Monocle), eccentric billionaire and adventurer, resolved to locate and adopt as many of these children as possible.

Somehow, he managed to get eight of them.

In the present day, a spotlight illuminates a young lady standing on a stage holding a violin. She begins playing the Phantom of the Opera.

Number One (Spaceboy), Luther, wakes up to a quiet house and waters his plant. He wears a space suit and opens the hatch of his moon station, basking in the view of the rising sun.

Number Two (The Kraken), Diego, is a masked crime-fighting vigilante while Number Three (The Rumor), Allison, is a world-renowned model and actress.

Number Four (The Séance), Klaus, is released from a rehabilitation center after having shown signs of improvement... Or not. Because minutes later, he goes straight to a drug dealer and ends up in an ambulance. But he's fine... I think.

The young lady with the violin is Number Seven, Vanya. She finishes her flawless performance and the lights are turned on, revealing an empty auditorium. She packs her violin and leaves silently. She doesn't realize that you were watching her performance, pride in your glistening eyes.

The adoptive siblings receive startling news as they end their day.

Now, Sir Reginald Hargreeves was many things but a good father was never one of them. I mean, which father assigns numbers as names, that too in order of how useful the child is to him? Some would say that is inhuman... Yet when Vanya hears of his death on a storefront television, the only thing she can say is, "Dad."

At the Hargreeves house a.k.a. the birthplace of The Umbrella Academy, two portraits hang side by side above the fireplace. The first one is of Number Five (The Boy) and the second is of You, Number Eight. A black marble statue of Number Six (The Horror), Ben, stands in the courtyard. The halls of the house are covered with photos of The Umbrella Academy with their father, reducing in members as the children grow older. These pictures, for some reason, do not include Vanya or You.

Hope you enjoyed the short prologue! I made minimal changes to it so it's very similar to the original, heh. Innovative content coming soon...

The first episode (coming up) will be more detailed with all the dialogues and stuff because I thought it was very important for future scenes. Also, if you guys missed something in the tv show, hopefully it'll be mentioned in this written version of the script. The changes in script are going to be subtle in the first chapter because it's just the Hargreeves siblings. In future chapters, I will probably skip scenes that aren't too significant/ quickly summarize them.
