The fireworks went on for what seemed like eternity. Meliodas and you shared the moment in silence, your previous conversation sinking in, making you think. Where did those demons who disappeared go? Sure there were things you didn't know about, but kidnapping women and children was something big, you'd know about that, right?

And spending those hours with Meliodas made you wonder about the truth behind the war. The fairies and giants were only just getting involved, before it was just the goddesses and demons. Humans had been involved from the start, the demon clan choosing their people to destroy villages and murder innocents. But what if there wasn't a point to the war? Only senseless fighting.

"Y/n." Meliodas cut through your thoughts. "Fireworks are over."

So they were. "I'm sorry, I got lost in thought," you said before you even realized what you were saying.

Meliodas chuckled, a lopsided grin stuck on his face. "Don't apologize, there's a lot to think about." He held out a hand, and you stared at it carefully, raising your own hesitantly, before accepting it and letting the demon help you stand. Your legs tingled from not being used in a while, and you wobbled slightly, catching yourself when Meliodas' hands were on your shoulders, steadying you. Your breath caught in your throat at how close he was to you, that unfamiliar feeling returning to your stomach. His hands dropped, reaching back behind his head as he took a step back.

What was he doing to you?

"I should get back. They'll be worried, if they've realized I'm gone again." You said, cringing at the thought of another lecture from Ludociel and Mael.

"You snuck out?" Meliodas seemed surprised at that.

"It's dangerous out here for me because of who I am, or so they say. The few times I have been to the front lines, most of the demons have tried to get to me first before everyone else." You shuddered at the memory of a demon who got to close once, Mael's sword cutting off its head just before it swung its sword at you. "They watch me to make sure nothing will happen. It makes it difficult to have time alone, with just me and my thoughts. Or to go flying with no cares or worries."

"You like flying?"

"Well, sure. It makes me feel... free. Like I'm not being carefully watched all the time. Like it's just me and the sky, riding the breeze to wherever it takes me." Just thinking about it sent your body into an excitement, your wings twitching as if they were agreeing with you.

"I have an idea. It may be far-fetched, but..." Meliodas looked away, almost nervous to suggest his idea.

"What is it?"

"Well, you seem to be at your wits end with this war, and to be honest, I'm a little tired of constantly fighting myself," Meliodas moved one hand, shoving it in his pocket as the other rubbed his neck nervously. "What do you say we work together to come up with a plan for the end of the war?"

"End the war?" What he suggested seemed too good to be true. Sure, Ludociel had some type of plan, but with it involving your power, that would be constant hours of work to keep the magic afloat, make sure it didn't fail. This way, the two of you could work together and find a solution for both of your peoples. "That'd be great, Meliodas."

"Really? You'll do it?" Meliodas was surprised at your response, he honestly didn't think you'd be willing to work with him. He was the Demon Prince, after all.

"Ludociel has a plan, but I don't think it's a good plan. So, working together to come up with our own plan, that works and saves both races, its something we have to do. And don't ask me to tell you what Ludociel's plan is, I'm not going to."

"I wasn't going to ask. You said it wasn't a good plan, so there's no point in knowing." Meliodas walked towards the doorway of the small shelter, turning back towards you and offering you his hand. "Want to fly with me?"

That unfamirliar feeling returned yet again, as your mind fought against itself. And yet that dark part of you won as you hesitantly placed your hand into his. "Let's go." His answering smile reassured you as the two of you took to the skies, light and dark energies dancing and caressing each other. The wind roared around you, crisp and cool, your hair was ppushed away from your face, a couple of the flowers falling out and floating to the ground. Meliodas held your hand as the two of you flew, your face unable to contain your happy expression. You let go of Meliodas' hand, your wings taking you higher as you laughed and spun in the air. You heard Meliodas chuckle and you glanced down to see him hovering, watching you have your fun. "Come on!" You beckoned, and he smiled before shooting straight up into the air, flying high above you in a split second before his wings disappeared, and he began to free fall. His body was laid out, his legs crossed and his handds held behind his head in a relaxed position. A few hundred feet above the ground he turned over, then his wings of dark demonic energy reappeared, catching him.

You flew down to him, then tapped his shoulder. "You're it!" You exclaimed, initiating the game you had often seen human children play. He looked at you confused, and you explained, "Its a game humans play. The person who is 'it' has to chase the others, tagging them with a tap on the shoulder. If someone gets tagged, then its their turn to be it and they have to chase the others."

"Oh really?" A playful smirk appeared, and Meliodas reached out towards you. You flew backwards, dodging his swipe. "I'll catch you, just wait and see!"

You giggled as you flew away, the wind rushing past you as you breathed fast and hard. You glanced back to see Meliodas chasing after you, that same playful smirk still on his face.

For the night, you would forget that he was a demon and you were a goddess. For the night, you would let yourself have fun. For the night, it would you would just be Y/n and he would just be Meliodas.

You would give yourself the night before thinking about what would happen next, as you realized that maybe Meliodas wasn't bad. Maybe... demons weren't bad, but misunderstood.

You tossed another glance behind you as you twisted through the air, heading lower, the tips of the trees close enough that if you were to reach out your hand, your fingertips would get catching on some of the branches. Soon, the trees opened up to a meadow, and you dropped even lower to the ground. And that was when he caught you, his hand on your shoulder startling you into crashing into the grass, but not in the way you thought it would be. Strong arms were wrapped around you, and you had been tucked into Meliodas' torso as he tried to shield you from the crash. Your hands had formed fists on his shirt, holding it in two death grips.

"I said I'd catch you," Meliodas began, pulling away slightly and reaching up to brush some hair from your face. "You're it."

You decided you liked that unfamiliar feeling.
