Previously:
You heard the grass in front of you shift before you felt a hand on your chin, lifting your face, causing you to open your eyes. Meliodas was so close to you. So close, that if you were to lean forward a few inches, your lips would meet in a kiss.

"Anyone in their right mind would fall for you."
Now:

Your breath caught in your throat. Did he share your feelings? You glanced at his lips before looking back into his eyes. He had you in a trance, whether he knew it or not. "Meliodas..."

He let go of your chin, backing away a few steps. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." He turned away, and you stood, walking over to him.

In a brief moment of confidence, you grabbed his shoulder, turning him around as your hands cupped his face. Before you could change your mind, you leaned in, and your lips met his. Meliodas froze, unable to react for a split second before his hands settled on your waist and his eyes closed. You moved one of your hands into his hair, the golden locks soft as they twisted around your fingers. You were melting into the kiss, everything felt right with the world, and butterflies were back in your stomach. The two of you parted for air, slightly panting. You leaned your head forward to rest your forehead against his.

"I don't want anyone." You started, an answer to his earlier statement. "I want you."

"That's good because, well, I want you too." Meliodas smiled, and you laughed, for the first time in a really long time, you felt really truly happy. Meliodas leaned in, capturing your lips in another kiss, and you smiled gently against him. Your eyes closed, savoring the kiss, getting lost in the feeling. You felt yourself sigh in content and he used that to deepen the kiss, his tongue  swiping at your bottom lip, asking for permission first. You granted him access and he immediately began exploring, his tongue clashing with your own for a second before winning the small fight for dominance. Your body pressed closer to him, and for a split second you wished your clothes weren't there, you wanted to feel as close to him as possible. Though, it was probably best this way, as you didn't want to rush anything.

Meliodas pulled away slightly, breaking the kiss as the two of you panted for air. "You should go back. It's almost dawn, don't really want a manhunt going on for the person who has stolen you away."

You laughed, "Stolen me away? You may have stolen my first kiss, but I chose to be here." Glancing at the sky, which had gotten lighter and a small hint of the golden sun, you pulled out of Meliodas' warm embrace. "You're right though. Any longer and Mael will burn down the forest searching for me."

"You talk about Mael a lot."

"Jealous? Mael won't ever hold my heart. Plus he's already got another goddess pining for him. Jalemet's a better match for him." You straightened your dress, brushing out some of the wrinkles that had formed. Then you picked up Meliodas' vest, handing it to him, feeling your blush when his fingers brushed against yours.

"In three days time, we'll finalize the plan. Then, this war will hopefully end." Meliodas slipped the vest onto his torso, the white material having a couple stains from dirt and old blood. "Stay safe."

"And you, too. No unnessesary battles, please. I don't want to heal another wound like that." You shook your head, it hurt to know that he was fighting, knowing that there was a risk of him being fataly injured. These feelings were new, of course you were always worried about your people, seeing the aftermaths of them battling the demons, healing a lot of them. But with Meliodas, it was different. You caught his gaze, his green eyes holding an emotion you almost didn't recognize before you dived in for a final embrace, meeting his lips in a kiss once again. It didn't feel long enough when you pulled away, stealing a final look at the demon who had captured your thoughts, and took off into the air, the cool breeze of morning stinging your face.

You wished you could spend longer with Meliodas, exploring these new feelings, but you had to go. If Mael found out you had disappeared... Well, you weren't kidding when you said he would burn down the forest. You rushed back, taking the long zig zagged route you had come up with so if you were found no one would know the direction of the small meadow. You got close to the border of of the Fairy King's Forest before you realized.

Someone was following you.

You stopped, trying to sense where it was. To your right? No, it was behind you. You whirled around, raising your hands while getting an ark ready. You weren't expecting to see Sariel there.

"Y/n. You run off very frequently. If I didn't know better, I'd say you've been running off to help the enemy."

"Sariel. I'm surprised you've been keeping track of my whereabouts. Usually it's Mael concerned with my every move." You forced your heart to slow, made your breaths calmer. Sariel had his typical playful grin, his tunic swaying in the light breeze.

"Well, someone has to make sure Mael stays with us. He'd go mad if we didn't. Why don't you just give in, agree to marry him? It would make all of our lives a lot easier." Sariel came to fly next to you as the two of you continued your way into the Fairy King's Forest, heading for the camp.

"Because it would be a lie. I know he has feelings for me, but I do not feel the same way for him. At best, he is like my brother. I hope he one day wakes up and finds the one who is truly meant for him." You didn't mention to Sariel any plans you might be able to share with Meliodas one day. Maybe the two of you would open that tavern he talked about. Near a village, but not inside the village. That way, if you needed to use your powers, you wouldn't have to worry about the villagers being hurt. It was wishful thinking, but a girl could dream, right?

"I guess so. But you should still try to let him off of you. Sometimes, when you've brushed off his complements and words, he throws himself too hard into the next battle. It worries me. He is my brother, and if this continues, one day he will get in over his head." Sariel paused, staring out into the forest.

You put a hand on his shoulder, drawing his attention to you. "I'll try."

"Thank you, Y/n." His orange eyes met yours, the tri-pointed pupil glowing. "Now let's get you home before anyone else notices."
