Chapter 5:

After Nami's little stunt of staring at her Captain during breakfast, and almost getting caught by Sanji, she promised herself that she would be more discreet next time.

Although she had already realized the night before that she indeed has fallen in love with their bubbly Captain, she didn't want her feelings out in the open yet to her crew, and especially to Luffy, with Robin being an exception of course ( Since the raven-haired archaeologist was the reason Nami realized her feelings for Luffy in the first place ).

She didn't want to ruin the current dynamic of the crew by announcing her love for their Captain to the world. To say she wasn't in pain about her decision would be an understatement but at the moment it was the only choice she had. Luffy still has his dream of becoming pirate king, and she didn't want to be a hindrance to that. So, she decided to keep it hidden and to enjoy her new found love by herself.

Nami was now on the deck beside Jinbei, binoculars on hand, checking for any island in sight.  Well, she was supposed to be checking for an island but her binoculars were pointed instead towards the Sunny's head. And who else would be on the Sunny's head except her idiot Captain.

She watched as his hair swayed with the breeze, his straw hat hanging behind him. She could make out a bit of the side of his face where she was standing, and she could see that he had on a huge, excited smile on his face.

"Nami-san?"

How she loved that smile of his, Nami thought to herself. His smile that signals adventure, and wonder.

"Nami-san?"

Although she noted that she also loved his serious side, like when he's about to go into battle, or when he's angry. She especially made sure to note that his angry side is quite manly, and not to mention uber hot and sex-...

"NAMI-SAN?"

"Yes? Sorry, Jinbei!" Nami replied, startled, as she turned to the former shichibukai beside her. "What the hell was I just thinking?" she thought to herself, feeling her face flush.

"Are you alright? Your face is red" Jinbei said, concern lacing his voice.

"Ah, y-yes, I'm fine. It's just the weather" she said laughing, fanning her face with her hand.

"What's wrong, Jinbei?" Luffy suddenly intervened, jumping down from the Sunny's head, and walking towards them.

"Ah~ it's Nami, she doesn't seem to be feeling well" Jinbei replied.

"Wha- no no. I'm fine, Jinbei, really, I am"

"Oi Nami." Luffy softly said, his voice deep and serious.

Nami suddenly found her face a mere inches away from Luffy's as he pressed his forehead against hers. She could feel his breath on her face. She immediately flushed into an even deeper red but she noticed that Luffy had kept his eyes closed, seemingly trying to keep his focus on measuring her temperature.

Nami took this as an opportunity to take a closer look at his features. From his closed eyelids, his eyelashes, his nose, and his lips. "Those lips...I'd really like a taste" she thought. His lips looked so soft and inviting. She leaned a little closer...and closer until...

"Well, doesn't seem like you have a fever" Luffy said, suddenly stepping back, scratching the back of his head.

"S-see, I told you I'm fine. Don't worry about it, Luffy, Jinbei" Nami reassured them, at the same time internally face palming herself at what she had attempted to do.

"Stupid Nami! Did you really just try to kiss him? In front of Jinbei for that matter! Get your shit together, Nami! You're supposed to keep it hidden remember!"

"Well, uhm, if you say so, Nami-san" Jinbei said, disrupting Nami from her thoughts. "Anyway, we're approaching an island" he continued, pointing straight forward.

"OH YEAH NAMI! IT'S AN ISLAND! AN ISLAND! LET'S GO! LET'S GO!" Luffy jumped excitedly.

Nami couldn't help but giggle at his childish antics.

"Okay! Okay!" She acknowledged, setting aside her thoughts of her near hit blunder just a few minutes ago, as she turned to give orders to the rest of the crew "EVERYONE! GET READY TO DOCK!"

"ROGER!" exclaimed the crew, as they scrambled to their positions.

Luffy had already went back on top of the Sunny's head. His straw hat tilted low on his head, his eyes wide as saucers. He had a small blush on his cheeks, his hand on his chest. "Th-that was dangerous..." he thought to himself as he tried to calm his racing heart.
