The Sneaky Cat-Burglar Nami

Chapter 6

Chapter 6:

The Straw Hats had disembarked on the island, which they found out from the people around the port area, is called Splash Island. It's a tropical island known for its numerous water parks, and shopping districts.

The crew had checked into one of the resorts. Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper were running around enjoying the different water slides scattered around the pool - Luffy and Chopper with their rubber floaties; Sanji was swirling about the poolside with heart eyes, admiring all the bikini-clad women; Brook, Jinbei and Franky had decided to stay and guard the Sunny; Zoro was god knows where; and as for Nami and Robin they were out for some girl bonding roaming around the shopping district.

It came to a surprise to Nami when Robin let out an albeit calm yet out of character hysterical laugh.

Both ladies were looking around in one of the clothing shops when Nami decided to tell Robin of her failed attempt at kissing Luffy.

"It's only been a day since you've realized your feelings and you already can't keep your hands to yourself, Nami. Or must I say, lips?" Robin teased, a smug look on her face.

"I don't know what came over me. My body just moved on its own. Besides..." Nami sighed, rubbing her temples "That idiot! Who in their right mind would check someone's temperature like that!? Does he think he's in some kind of shoujo manga!?" she complained, clenching her fist in front of her. "I'm gonna punch him!"

"Now, now, Nami. Calm down." Robin responded with a giggle, pulling out a long and silky light yellow sundress from the rack. "This will look good on you Nami, don't you think?" she said, raising the dress in front of her. "How about you try it on?"

"That is pretty. Sure." Nami agreed, taking the dress from Robin's hand, and walked towards the dressing room.

Stepping out of the dressing room, Nami twirled around, the dress flowing beautifully on her. "I love it!" she happily exclaimed to Robin.  "Now, I think I need a hat to go with it" as she looked around the store, until she found a wide-brimmed straw hat similar in color to Luffy's except with a long black ribbon tied in the middle. "This looks perfect!" she said, grabbing the hat and walking towards the counter to pay for her new clothes.

A few hours later, the two women had just come out from a bookstore, with Robin happily hugging her new set of books to read on the ship. The two were chatting away when Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper passed by.

"Hey guys, where are you going?" Nami called out to them

Usopp, and Chopper had stopped a little far off, whilst Luffy approached the two women.

"OH! NAMI! ROBIN!" Luffy waved excitedly. "You guys done shopping?"

"Yeah, Robin had just bought a bunch of new books" Nami pointed out."We're going back to the resort, where are you three going? I hope you guys aren't up to no good again!"

"Some guys at the resort said that there's a cool huge water coaster ride on the other side of the island." he replied, stars twinkling in his eyes. "It has a 500 foot dive, and a ton of loops! Come with us! It will be fun!"

"HELL NO! I DON'T WANT TO DIE!" Nami replied, head chopping Luffy on the head.

"CHE~ HOW BORING!" Luffy said, rubbing his head.

Robin giggled behind Nami, then a light bulb appeared in her head, as a sly idea came to mind.

"OI! LUFFY! HURRY UP! WE'RE GONNA LEAVE YOU!" Usopp and Chopper shouted impatiently, a few feet away from them.

"I'M COMING!" Luffy replied, but before he could leave Robin stopped him.

"Ah! Luffy, wait!" She said.

Luffy turned to face her. "What's up, Robin?"

"Just a little bit curious but...what do you think of Nami's new outfit?" Robin asked straightforwardly, receiving a little nudge on her hip from Nami.

"What are you doing, Robin?" Nami whispered, confused.

Robin shushed Nami, and turned towards their Captain again.

"So Luffy, what do you think?" she asked again.

"Hmmmm~" Luffy said out loud, his eyebrows knotted, his hand on his chin, deep in thought as he scanned Nami from top to bottom. "There's something bothering me"

For a few seconds, all Luffy could say was "Hmmmm~" as he thought long and hard about what was amiss; while Nami and Robin tried to anticipate what he was thinking of.

"AH!" Luffy interjected suddenly. "I KNOW!"

Nami's eye grew wide, and everything seemed to have gone into slow motion when all of a sudden Luffy was inches away from her, his hand reaching to remove her straw hat, tossing it aside, and replacing it with his own.

This gesture from Luffy, surprised Robin as well.

Luffy stepped back a bit and studied his suggested fashion choice for Nami.

"THAT'S BETTER!" Luffy exclaimed proudly "MY STRAW HAT ALWAYS LOOKS BETTER ON YOU."

To say that this did not catch Nami off guard was an understatement, but the words that came out of his mouth next just left her speechless.

"YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL, NAMI. SHISHISHISHI~" he said, grinning from ear to ear.

"OI LUFFY!" Usopp called.

"YEAH! I'M COMING!" Luffy replied "SEE YA! I'LL LEAVE YOU WITH MY STRAW HAT FOR TODAY NAMI. TAKE CARE OF IT!" he said, waving the two women goodbye, as he ran towards Usopp and Chopper.

Out of earshot from the two women, Luffy approached Chopper and Usopp, a light blush was visible on his cheeks.

"O-oi Luffy, are you alright? Your face is red." Usopp asked.

"Huh? No, it's not"

"Are you not feeling well?" Chopper added.

"I'm fine, Chopper." Luffy insisted. "NOW LET'S GO TO THAT ROLLERCOASTER!" Luffy exclaimed, dashing off.

"OI! LUFFY! WAIT UP!' Usopp and Chopper said, as they ran to catch up to Luffy.

"Seriously, why's your face red, Luffy?" Usopp pushed.

"IT'S NOT!" Luffy insisted again.

"IS TOO!"

"IT'S NOT!"

"IS TOO!"

And this conversation continued until they reached their destination.

On the other hand, back with Nami and Robin.

Robin was amused beyond belief, and Nami was as red as a tomato.

"Now that's not something you hear everyday, huh, Nami?" Robin teased, giggling.

"That...that idiot!" Nami screamed internally.
