The footsteps echo across the walls as Lizzie anxiously walked around the small cell she is trapped in. In a few hours The Empire Games would start, in a few hours, her life would turn into a living hell, in a few hours she might not be alive anymore.

She had to get out of here, and quick. But what could she do in a small square room with as only exit an elevator that would bring her right to her almost certain demise?

That's when she heard a crying sound from across the wall, where the other tributes trapped in the cells next to her? She had to know.

"H-hello?" She whispered, "is anybody there?" Her voice cracked since it hasn't been used for a long time.

No response, just when she was going to try again, she heard the soft and gentle voice of a girl.  "H-hi" her voice shook out of fear "w-who are y-you? Are y-you a t-tribute a-as well?"

Even though Lizzie didn't know who she was, they'd probably haven't even met each other she still felt sorry for her.

"Yes I am." she said more loud and confident than first, "I-i am Lizzie, from The Ocean Empire"
"I'm..." Silence, as if she was deciding whether or not she should tell her name. "I'm S-Shelby, from The U-undergrove.

Just when Lizzie was going to answer she heard a familiar yet terrifying melody...the games were starting.

"All the tributes may enter the elevator" A voice blared through the intercom.

Lizzie took a deep breath, then another one, then took a step toward the circular platform that would take her straight up to the arena.

Just when she was about to step inside she heard a panicked scream from the other side of the wall:
"PLEASE NO, NO! I WANT TO GO HOME, PLEASE, PLEASE LET ME OUT!" Shelby cried.

Lizzie closed her eyes, waiting for it to stop, but it didn't, it went on and on:
"PLEASE, PLEASE I-I CANT I-i just want to go home!" The last sentence was not more than a whisper. That's when it finally stopped.

"Hey, it's gonna be okay." Lizzie said to the wall between her and Shelby, "it's gonna be okay" she heard the platform of Shelby's cell go up.

She took another deep breath and stepped inside the elevator.
