Lizzie woke up in a empty camp with no sign of Scott whatsoever.
"Scott?" Lizzie whispered while raising a eyebrow. "You there?"
"Here I am." Scott walked towards the camp, a dead rabbit dangling in his left hand as he triumphantly sat down and started to make a small fire.
That when Lizzie finally realized how hungry she actually was, she hadn't eaten since the games started!
"So..." Lizzie said as Scott started to prepare the rabbit.
"Where do you know that Joey from?" Lizzie finally got to ask the question that had been on her mind for the whole night.
"We where friends when we were still toddlers, heck we spend our whole childhood together, until he suddenly stopped talking to me." Scott growled before turning back to the rabbit again.
Lizzie didn't answer.
This must be a very sensitive thing for Scott, I don't want to make it any worse
———
"We should leave." Scott said while finishing up the last bits of their meal, "We shouldn't stay in one place for too long and Joey still knows where we are."
Lizzie nodded while standing up and started gathering her stuff, not that it was much, Joeys coat, her daggers, and some extra bandages.
"Let's go." She said while abandoning the camp together with Scott.
So he's not going to kill me?
If he wanted to do that he would've done it when you where asleep.
He could always still backstab me.
After what he's done for you? The only thing you can do for him is getting in his way and he's knows that, yet he still helped you.
Yes but...
Don't be so paranoid!Lizzie sighed, she really didn't know which side she should choose.
She was awakened out of her thoughts due to the sound of a canon in the distance.
"Someone's dead." Scott shrugged.
The fear of it being Joel or Shelby immediately came back.
Scott didn't notice, he continued to walk while humming a song that sounded familiar, yet she didn't recognize it.
How can he be so calm?! He just heard someone got killed yet he starts humming a song?!
See, he's a psychopath and were all gonna die.
OR he's a good ally to have.Lizzie quickly locked out all the paranoid voices in her head.
———
"This place should be good." Scott said while inspecting the area, "could you get some firewood while I go hunting?"
Lizzie nodded.
"Great, come back here in an hour or 2." He said over his shoulder while loading his bow and disappearing into the forest.
Geez how many weapons did he manage to get from the cornucopia?! A sword, throwing knifes and now a bow?! What's next, a machine gun?!
See, psychopath.
Oh shut up!The arguments in her head kept going on and on as Lizzie walked into the forest.
———
2 hours later Lizzie walked back to the camp, arms carrying plenty of firewood, when she was greeted by a rather unpleasant sight; Scott wrestling with a brunette boy.
She wasn't able to see the face of the brunette but she could tell that both were badly hurt, Scott face was filled with cuts and his left eye looked like the beginning of a bruise while the brunette hand where filled with cuts and what looked like...bite marks? Lizzie shuddered, how long has this been going on?!
I have to do something!
The brunette hit Scott in his stomach, making his arms grab his belly and his head going down, as the brunette lifted his knee, hitting Scott in the face, hard.
The brunette grabbed Scott's throat, choking him.
Lizzie jumped forward, grabbing the brunettes own throat and pulling him backward, Scott made use of the brunettes disorientation, beating him on his jaw.
The eyes of the brunette rolled back as he fell to the ground, when Lizzie finally saw the face of the boy, Joel!
Scott had already grabbed his sword, lifting it above his head, ready to finish it.
"STOP!" Lizzie shouted, Scott hesitated, giving her a confused look, "don't kill him!" She cried. "You know him?" He asked, still confused about Lizzie protecting the boy that had almost killed him.
"It's- its my boyfriend!" Lizzie shouted.
"He is WHAT?!" Poor Scott seemed to get more confused per second.
Lizzie was about to react when Joel slowly opened his eyes, muttering something under his breath about...him being tall?
"JOEL!" Lizzie cried as she hugged him, "L-Lizzie? Joel muttered, "LIZZIE!" Joel finally realizing who he was talking to.
His eyes narrowed when he got Scott in his sight, who was still holding the sword above is head, ready to strike.
"Lizzie?" Scott asked, still sounding incredibly confused.
"Lizzie? Do you know my near death experience?" Joel's eyes narrowed even further.
"Yes, Joel this is Scott, Scott this is Joel, my boyfriend."
Scott mouth flung open and closed again, almost like a fish on dry land.
"Uhmm Scott? You can put down the sword now."
Scott slowly lowered his sword, "I'm going hunting." He muttered as he picked up his bow and arrows.
"Again?" Lizzie raised an eyebrow while shooting a glance at the pheasant he already managed to shoot.
Scott didn't react, as he walked into the forest again she heard him mutter something under his breath about 'a weird dream' and 'waking up'
"Soooo, how exactly do you guys know each other?" Joel asked, looking almost as confused as Scott was, almost.
Lizzie grinned as she started explaining the whole story.
Was that ending a bit lazy? Maybe, also, poor Scott.
