Taming The Untamable

Chapter 5

"It's all a simulation. Nothing's real. It's not real. They're not dead. You're seeing things. You're hallucinating. Nothing's happening to them."

  "Wake up."

Sonic quickly got up, panting for air as his tired body struggled to get oxygen in his lungs, his heart racing from the quick movement. "W-what..." Sonic mumbled to himself, looking around to see himself in his room. 

  "Was that... all a dream...?" Sonic asked himself, getting his breathing under control before opening the door. 

The place was as clean as before, no one was in the kitchen, and the TV was on, playing a chili dog commercial. The azure hedgehog walked to the kitchen, seeing a note on the fridge. He took it off the fridge and carefully read it.

'We're going on a mission, there should be some food in the fridge if you need anything, don't do anything stupid, I bet whatever you do wrong you can reverse it, cya in a week 
   -Rouge and Shadow'

Sonic rolled his eyes at the note before placing it down on the counter and dashing outside. 

The azure hedgehog looked around, everything was back to how it was. No broken buildings, no cracks in the walls, no one hurt or in pain. It was normal.

"Amy, Tails..." Sonic mumbled to himself before dashing to the cabin. Sonic hid behind a tree and peeked over it, seeing Amy, Tails, Knuckles, and the brown badger. 

They're not hurt? what happened.. Sonic thought, dashing back to the apartment. 

The azure hedgehog sat on the couch, confused and happy at the same time as he turned the TV off. 

"Dark, Exe, you guys there?"

No answer, Sonic got confused by this, but shook it off and made something to eat, a chili dog to be exact. After the azure hedgehog finished his favorite meal, he went to his room and flopped on the bed, Thinking about what happened last night. 

Something's not adding up... What happened? Sonic thought before ending up in the dark room, the floor being a luminous white color as he walked, looking around the dense space of nowhere. "Dark! Exe!?" Sonic shouted, trying to get his demons to respond. But no one was there, it was quiet, only sounds that were heard were the blue hedgehog's footsteps and shouting.

Sonic stopped, tapping his foot on the ground, before getting a split headache. "Argh!" Sonic shouted, falling to his knees. It stopped after a little while as Sonic panted for air, his ears pinned to his head.

The azure hedgehog stayed kneeling on the ground until he collected himself to get up before he felt someone place a hand on his shoulder, startling the blue speedster when it did.

Sonic snapped back to reality when he fell to the ground, only to meet his eyes in the gaze of bright ruby eyes, staring at the azure hedgehog's emerald eyes. "Why were you staring at the floor," The ebony hedgehog asked, gently picking up the startled blue hedgehog.

"Is something wrong?" Shadow added, placing Sonic on the bed. 

The azure hedgehog shook his head before turning to face the ebony hedgehog. "I can't contact my demons." Sonic said, his ears lowering a bit, remembering what happened before he woke up from that 'bad dream'. 

Something's going to happen, if they're not responsive, I might just go crazy.

"We're all in big trouble..."
