Chapter 4
Dark Dream
It was 9pm Vicky had almost given up on finding a rainbow stone, it was getting to dark to see the shells and stones on the ground so she thought she'd just tie with Jane this time
She started to walk back to where Jane and her said they'd meet, as she approached the now cold worn stone wall, she tripped over twisting her ankle as she fell, Vicky had hit her head quite hard against the wall making her feel quite dizzy and a little light headed.
She pulled herself up and slowly limped to get help, it wasn't just a simple twist she think she may have done something much worse, but she may have just not been thinking straight from her possible concussion.
The teachers had started walking back to the big group of students, they noticed Vicky limping and went over to her, they helped her back to the hotel and got the rest of the students to their rooms.
They told Vicky to relax and try to get some sleep, by this point she felt really bad and didn't talk, but she wanted to ask about Jane because she still wasn't back yet and Vicky was starting to worry. Lots of possible
(and quite horrific) thoughts started to play in her head of what could have happened, ranging from kidnaping to being torn to bits by scary sea monsters, but she then realised Jane had gone to the other side of the beach to look for stuff so she was probably still walking back.
Vicky chuckled quietly if the thought of Jane (knowing how lazy she could be) staggering back to the hotel grumbling and cursing about how she had to walk from one bloody end of the beach to the other, or that Vicky hadn't even been there to meet her.
No one really noticed that Jane had gone, well no one really noticed her any way. She usually keeps to herself, doesn't talk much, or participate in many major school things that would get her noticed. So if you went up to anyone and asked about Jane or who she was the most likely answers would be
'Who?' Or 'I don't know'
So going missing would not really be hard to do since no one would really notice.
As all these thoughts went through Vicky's head she started to relax and fell asleep. She always had strange dreams, well at least the ones she remembered were, but this one was different it felt real and scary.
She could see Jane, and started to call her name but no words came out, she shouted louder until her throat ached but still nothing, she could see Jane slowly turn around, her eyes dark as if all the life had been taken away, she seemed to whisper something Vicky couldn't hear what she said but could read her lips. She started to run towards her but the more she ran the further apart they got.
Just as Vicky shouted one last time, she saw something but she couldn't work out what it was, it started to come into focus when she woke to the sound of someone knocking on the door.
Vicky was cold very cold, her head ached and she remembered the dream she had, the dark dark dream. Vicky slowly pulled herself up with a struggle and looked beside her to see the other bed was still empty and untouched.
One word was on her mind
