Chapter 3
The rainbow stone
Everyone was enjoying themselves some were playing games others tanning their fake tans...
(Jane never understood that...)
And well there was Jane and Vicky doing nothing ... at all ... but that was exactly what they needed after being stuck on the coach being pushed straight into the hot hotel by excited students, just a bit of relaxing was perfect ...
For about 5 minutes until the both girls had to have a wander, the beach was long although the tide had come in a bit there was still so much room to do anything, the rest of the classes had only taken up about half of the beach and the two girls were completely split off from the big group it was just the 2 of them.
Vicky made a check list, the first person to find all the items on it got £5 from the loser so off the girls went.
This is what Jane and Vicky did every time they were at the beach, it killed time, was very entertaining and someone wins money.
It was around 7pm but it was just as lively as it was when they first got there at 11am, even from the other side of the beach Jane could still hear laughter and shouting from the others.
Jane had decided to stop for a moment and check over the list and she had to admit some of the things on this list were just too easy but others were not.
Jane had been looking for an hour and she finally had one last item on the check list before she would be done.
Sea weed X
10 different types of shells X
A seagull feather X
A star fish X
Sand X
Rainbow stone
They always added rainbow stone to the list, because when they were little they found one and they thought it was so beautiful but then there was an argument over who would keep it so the just threw it away, but since then they've tried to find another.
She looked lazily at the list while lying on a tall rock, the stone was hot but not to hot. The stars already shining bright in the dark night sky twinkling gently to them selves with the moon shining brightest in the sky. Well it was really just the reflection of the sun, Jane thought to herself.
Jane sighed deeply and mumbled
"I always over think the simplest perfect things that don't need more thought than to just enjoy them..."
She sighed again and let the list drop onto the cool stone just getting cold from the burning hot day. The sea gleaming even more in the moonlight,
"This all this is..just..per...fect..."
Jane drifted off to sleep with the moon slowly rising higher and higher into the beautiful sky.
The tide got closer. Jane lay there completely unaware but the gentle waves couldn't reach the top of the rock. Even though the tide was still low something gently touched her foot slowly wrapped around her ankle and pulled her into the ocean quickly even Jane had barely woken from her slumber, she could not even comprehend what had happened before it did, not even a near by bird would notice anything had happened.
The water was so shallow but there was no trace of anything being there no splashing, the water was just as still and as beautiful as before.
