Completely clueless as to why such unexpected event would suddenly happen, Adam could not do anything but sob. His eyes glued onto his once lover, now peacefully snoozing on the hospital bed. Tears poured here and there, agony spilt from one hurt individual to the other: his parents, Adam's mom, and Adam.
All could be heard was the excruciating cries of the ruined boy, his hands banged on the glass pane window as he screamed at the doctors and nurses to do something. Something that would miraculously heal his boyfriend back to health.
If only things worked that way. Just one snap of a finger, a person's hurt would fade away in an instant. A deceased loved one would be revived. If only magic was real. If only a miracle would happen.
But it's reality. A dark truth no one can flip around. Life is never fair. Reality do not choose certain people; everyone suffers, whether they like it or not.
Hopeless, Adam can not seem to handle the occurrence before him. The truth was too big for him to swallow. Not wanting to believe what is happening, he is unsure of what to do. He is unsure of what to think.
Ms. McArthur immediately pulled her son into a warm embrace once the sound of Justin's heart flatline rang throughout the room. She tightly wrapped her arms around the boy who continuously screamed in pure misery. This comforting gesture trying to calm down the anguish boiling within him.
Adam felt his heart being torn apart when he heard the most dreading sound he could ever have heard in his entire life. It caused such pain he never thought was possible. It felt as if a part of him was suddenly ripped apart from him. The thought of him not seeing the bubbly face of his boyfriend anymore whenever he wakes up in the morning is an indescribable torture he is sure he did not want to ever face.
Leaning his head on his mom's shoulder, he poured all his ache out. He sobbed, he cried, he screamed. Yet neither of anything he does can remove the torment carved into his soul.
"He's gone.. he's gone.." he whispers repeatedly into the air, distress evident in his sore voice.
Ms. McArthur rubbing her hand up and down Adam's back, she replies, "Shh, shh. I know, baby. I know."
The Kroma couple turned to their son's other half, approaching him and wholeheartedly lent out a warm, helping hand. Saying sweet and comforting words, telling him that everything is going to be okay. The event itself is dreadful for them, and it hurts them just as much as it hurts the boy.
After a few more grieving minutes, the doctors came out of the room, said their apologies and condolences, and allows them to enter to say their final goodbyes for the deceased boy. The Kroma couple looked at Adam, to which the boy responded with, "It's okay, you can go first. I think I'll go last."
The man smiles genuinely at him, "thank you."
After what felt like eternity, Adam's mom exited the room, signalling for her son that it is now his turn to have his last moments with his boyfriend. Without any second thoughts entering his mind, he quickly got up from his seat and entered.
The atmosphere in the room shifted — he felt cold. The sight of the love of his life laying on the hospital bed with his eyes closed shut, his body rested peacefully, not one single movement from him pinched his mourning heart.
