Amy left her work earlier due to her meeting and now she is waiting. Again. Alone in a hall to be called.
Some magazines are on the table next to her like she would ever going to use them. Every time she comes here, she waits like five minutes and walks into.
Same today, woman in her gray skirt and white shirt opened the doors for her and let Amy in then closed, sitting across.
Eve wanted to let Amy speak first and waited. Even, if they had like twenty minutes today, she still decided to wait. Eve knew, that pushing and nagging on people like Amy can make it all worst and they will stop coming back. But every time she opens the doors, she is happy to see Amy back. Although, she comes here and sits in silence for good ten minutes.
" How was at work ?"
Eve took her burgundy notebook and opened to start writing about Amy. She wanted to write, that after two meets some things changed, but nothing did. And it doesn't mean, it will stay like this forever. Eve wants to fight to bring happiness to Amy's life. How hard it can be and painful for this girl in auburn hair with knees close to her chest, sitting across.
" Been better."
" Can we keep continue ?"
Eve made sure, that Amy is okay with talking about this night and looked up at her. She stopped writing and decided to listen to her.
" I guess."
Hearing Amy's response was a good sign for Eve. She believed, that things will change soon. Maybe not as fast as she believes, but it's a little bit of hope in her response to help her. That she wants it and will fight for what she lost.
" Did some things change after yours meeting at the hill ?"
" Yes.. She said hi, when we were opening our lockers before first period.. And.. As she told me, she planned to be paired with me for our assignment on Literature."
Amy had problems with talking about it. She always had problems with talking about her feelings and she could remember, when she was loyal enough with Stephanie to tell her dream.
But more painful thing with talking and remembering these moments was the fact, she could see it. And she could hear her voice, that was soft, when she asked her. But she hated her for joking about her own future. Even, if she was serious about to become like Eve, she ended up with Amy at the same college. But not rooms. They kept staying far from each other, because only nights were saved for them. Like it was the best part of the day for both of them to talk, laugh or share their opinions and secrets.
" Did you agree for it ?"
Amy shook her head, looking out of window. She didn't want to, because of what Stephanie's friends would say. Or her boyfriend, Jake. She hated him from the beginning and couldn't believe, that Stephanie choose him, while she could be with a guy, that could appreciate her person. Not the fact, that she became popular by accident. And this accident was her relationship. But still, Amy couldn't believe in this high school crap and that's why she was always the outcast, weirdo, loser. What ever you can call it.
" Why ?"
Amy closed her eyes, a tear escaped from her eye and she quickly wiped it. Then she finally managed to look at Eve. To look into her hazel eyes and see her as someone, that can listen, too. But she didn't want to get attached to her like to Stephanie. She couldn't let it all happen again.
" Because our night talks were supposed to be at nights, not at her home or mine. Besides my home was a total mess and I didn't want her to see it."
Eve nodded her head and made quick notes about Amy's first move. She really looked at Eve and answered her question, which made her happy. But it didn't last too long.
When she looked up at Amy again, her head was now turned toward windows and her eyebrows furrowed like she was thinking.
" So you were anxious, that she would judge you. And you didn't trust her."
" Yes."
She couldn't trust Stephanie like that. Maybe Stephanie trusted her, well, she even told her about it after they kept meeting during their summer. But on the beginning, for Amy, it was hard to trust someone like her.
Miss Popular.
" Anything else ? What about that meet on Sunday ?"
" She hugged me like we did it before. It was nice, really nice thing."
She was lost in her arms. Now and then, it was still the same. Like she was here and Amy could feel her presence. She could feel warmth appearing all over her body. She could feel everything and nothing. And she hated it.
Amy sniffed, wiping tears with her sleeve of gray sweater.
" Did she tell something after ?"
" No and it was much better."
" Why ?"
Now it was time for Eve to frown, but it only worsen it. Tears were rolling down Amy's cheeks, but Eve knew, that she made it clear, she doesn't want Eve's hugs.
" What about you?"
" I only thanked her and left."
