" so how did you guys meet!" Lily asked us looking between me and her son. I looked at Ace waiting for him to answer I don't know if he wants me to tell the truth or lie to them. We did only mean about a month ago.
" she was my personal assistant." He said. So we're going with the truth I guess. " but I met her a while ago while I was getting coffee and I couldn't take my eyes off her from that moment I knew she was mine" so I guess we aren't going with the full truth?
"where?" His father asked staring deeply into my eyes as if interrogating me. Get the feeling he doesn't really like me which would not work out in my favor.
" Kelly's Café" he said which made me shoot my eyes directly to him but he refused to make eye contact.
Kelly's Café is where I go almost every day before I got the PA job with him. It's my go to Coffee Place. I think back on it and now I do remember seeing him or at least somebody that looks like him one day when I was there with Parker.
" oh I heard they have the best coffee there" Anna said before looking at me " we have to go there together"
" yeah totally and they do have the best coffee" I said laughing a little while smiling at her. I can tell me and her are going to be close.
"How long?" I heard his father's voice once again
" pardon?" I asked confused on what he was talking about
" how long have you guys been seeing each other" he clarified
"I-um" I started but was cut off by Ace taking over. Thank god.
" we've been seeing each other for-" he started but was rudely interrupted by his father
" I was talking to her Ace" he said glaring at me refusing to take his eyes off me. Fuck. I knew this was a bad idea to have a dinner with his family we haven't even gone over our backstory I also don't even have a ring.
"I'm - we've- I-ummm" I started trying to think of an answer. Before I heard my phone ding. I quickly pulled it out of my pocket. Anything to save me from this moment. " sorry one moment!" I looked at my phone to see a text from an unknown number.
'1year' it read I looked at Ace to see him giving me a reassuring smile " sorry that was my friend. But back to what you were saying we've been together for a year" I said Smiling at Ryan.
" so you aren't engaged yet?" I heard him ask " I mean I'm just stating the obvious there's no ring on your finger yet" he said. See what did I say bad idea.
" father" Ace said in a warning tone
" you said you wanted to have dinner with us and your fiancé, but from what I can tell she's no fiancé yet" his father said smirking as if he won something.
I felt Ace take my hand before he stood up pulling me up with him. " I was going to wait to do this in a more romantic where are you but since my father decided to blow the secret." He said before getting down on one knee. I looked at him like he was crazy. What is he doing?
He gave me a look which I could tell was him telling me to just go with it. So that's what I did. "W-what are you doing?" I asked pretending to be nervous.
"Oh my god" I heard lily whisper
"I have loved you since that day I saw you in that café Isabella" he said. The way he said my name made me weak to the knees. Stop that! No feelings, not strings attached remember the deal! I was brought back out of my thoughts by Ace continuing. " you have made me the luckiest man in the world by just being my girlfriend. By being by my side, and letting me love you every day" he pulled out a small red velvet box
"so will you please do me the honours by making me 1000 times more lucky by marrying me Isabella?" He said as he opened the small box that now showcased a gorgeous ring, with a gold band littered in diamonds
I stalled for a moment I could feel myself starting to tear up. Not because of what he said but the fact that I want somebody to be able to say that and truly mean it. By taking a steal I have lost every chance of finding love at least until it's done. Do I really want this? Come on Bella this is your chance to back out. "Isabella?" Ace said bringing me back to my senses
"I-uh-yes. Yes I'll marry you" I said faking a smile as the tears roll down my cheek. No turning back now.
I heard his mother and sister shout and joy at my response. I turn to see them smiling and jumping around hugging each other before running towards us. I glanced at his father while his mother hugged me, let's just say his father didn't look too pleased almost as if he had lost a lot of money in a poker tournament.
" congratulations!" Lily said to me
" thank you"
" oh my God you guys are gonna make such cute babies!" Anna said to me which made me go pale in the face.
" Anna don't scare her off just yet" ace said pulling me into a side hug wrapping his arm around my waist. I gave a very tense and fake smile to them all.
" let's eat shall we? don't want the food getting cold" Ryan said. I can obviously tell he doesn't like me but he's gonna have to get used to it. Especially since I'm not marrying his son there's no way around it so get used to it bud.
I sat down in my seat with Ace sitting down next to me. I zoned out thinking about what I had just done while his mother and sister are squealing about the fact that we're engaged now and how cute our babies are gonna be.
Literally just made a deal with the devil.
