The surgery was successful. Scarlet was at my place with Anna and Tyler. My parents had gone back to California with Maya.

" I'm gonna get some coffee" Parker told me " do you want some?" I shook my head. No, I don't even have an appetite to drink anything. He left the room and made his way towards the cafeteria.

It's been three hours since she got out of surgery and her state is extremely critical. They have her under close supervision.

I need to sleep. I rest of my head against the wall behind me looking at Isabella before I close my eyes, hoping that I could get a little bit of sleep. I sat there in silence for a little bit. This is useless I'm not gonna get any sleep until I know that she's awake and OK. I decided that maybe I should go get that coffee. I stood up and make my way out of the hospital room, smiling at a few nurses that I passed by.

I finally made it to the cafeteria to see Parker standing in front of a coffee shop " can you get me one" I asked him he nodded his head. " double double please" I mumble before taking a seat at one of the tables in the cafeteria.

Parker made his way towards me with two copies in his hand " you OK" he asked me handing me my coffee

" I'll be fine" I mumbled taking a sip of my coffee.

" you're doing a good job" he told me he took a seat in the chair across from me.

"Hmm?" I said, confused as to what he was talking about

" with Scarlet" he said, smiling at me because he took a sip of his coffee " With the whole thing with Isabella and still taking care of her, and you're doing a good job, being a Dad really suits you"

I laughed at his comment " I never thought I'd have a daughter" I said laughing and looking down at my coffee. When I was younger, I always wanted kids in the future but I did not want a daughter  because I didn't want to deal with chasing boys away, etc.

" most men don't want daughters," he said laughing

" true" I smiled before looking up at him " I'm sorry by the way."

" for" he asked me squinting his eyebrows

" breaking her heart," I told him looking down at my hands again, feeling guilty " I really do love her though," I told him

" I know I see it in the way you look at her especially the way you look at her when she's holding Scarlet," he said, reaching his hand, and I'm placing it on mine. " come on let's go back up," he said, standing up. I know that my head, and got a following closely behind him as we accident at the cafeteria.

Thankfully, Isabella's room was in the main area and we didn't have to walk up more than one flight of stairs. Once we got to the top, I smiled at a few nurses as we walked towards Her hospital room.

" code blue in room 85" the intercom spoke. 8585. That's Isabella's room. My heart immediately dropped to the bottom of my stomach and I dropped my coffee in the process. I watched as I saw a whole bunch of nurses and a doctor run towards her room.

I stood frozen as Parker ran towards Isabella's room. I can't lose her and I know what code blue means that's not good. I quickly made my way towards her room, not even worrying about the coffee that I had just dropped and it spilled all over the floor.

As soon as I made it into her room, I saw nurses and doctors doing a whole bunch of stuff and moving things out of the way. One of the nurses dropped her bed so that she was laying flat before the doctor yelled "Crash cart now" to one of the nurses. The nurse quickly turned around and pushed passed me to grab a crash cart.

I stood there, staring at the site in front of me, her the monitor that was attached to her was flatlined, and the nurses and doctor looked extremely worried. I felt somebody brush past me and I turned my side to see the nurse pulling in your crash cart.

" what's wrong! What's happening to her?" I yelled out, trying to get anybody's attention. They were too focused on Isabela. " somebody fucking answer me what's happening to my wife!" I yelled out

" get them out of the room," the doctor said two of the nurses immediately came towards me and Parker, trying to push us out the door. Parker obeyed, and followed the nurse's instructions, but I stayed.

" I'm not leaving till I know she's OK!" I said, try to push past the two nurses that we're currently trying to push me outside the door.

"Sir, you have to leave I'm gonna have to call security," one of the nurses said to me which made me stop. I left my hands up and surrender mode, and I backed up out of the hospital room. They closed the door as soon as I was out of the way, blocking the site that was in front of me.

I felt Parker touch my shoulder  " It's going to be OK man she's strong" he said to me I could tell him his voice that he didn't totally believe what he was saying himself, but I nodded my head and let him direct me towards the waiting room. As soon as we entered, I saw Anna and Tyler walking in holding Scarlet.

I immediately walked over to them and grabbed Scarlet into my arms, holding her close to me  "What's wrong" my sister asked probably noticing to look at my face.

" Isabella flatlined," Parker told them as I was too focused on holding Scarlet close to me.

"Is she OK!" Tyler asked immediately

" they kicked us out of the room," Parker told them. I leaned against the wall close to me as I held Scarlet in my arms.

About 20 minutes later, I saw Dr. Alice walking towards us. As if on cue, Anna walked up to me taking Scarlet away from me. " go I've got her" she said holding a sleeping Scarlet in her arms

" any news" I asked the doctor, so I walked up to her.

She had a very blank look on her face. She wasn't showing any type of emotion. " do you mind coming with me?" she asked.

" no just tell me if she's OK," I said, wanting to know if Isabella was OK or not.

" Mr. King-" she started

"Just tell me if she's OK," I said, cutting her off harshly. I saw an emotion appear on her face an emotion that looked a lot like pity " She's OK right" I asked her hearing my voice crack a little bit

" she didn't make it," Dr. Alice said. It was like the whole world froze. Everything stopped in time. I couldn't hear anything. Everything is moving in slow motion. I turned and looked behind me to see Tyler and Anna sitting there with Scarlet smiling down at her. I couldn't help but wish that it was me and Isabella. Now knowing that's never possible because she's gone.

She's gone.

Isabella is gone.

I just got her back and she's gone.

"Ace?" I heard Tyler ask as he walked up to us. He looked over at the doctor and the doctor shook her head. "Shit" he mumbled before wrapping his arms tightly around me.

" I just got her back" I mumbled into his chest as I let the tears fall freely. I felt myself falling apart "This isn't fair." I mumbled.
