We've been at the hospital for 2 hours now. I've been pacing back and forth in the waiting room. "Is the family of Kiera Martinez and Nate Hernandez here?" A nurse says entering the waiting area. "Yes we're here." Tay says quickly getting up and I walk up to the nurse with him. "I'm sorry we tried everything we could to save Mr. Hernandez but he did not make it. I'm so sorry." She says and Tayshon and Vincent star crying and the others just walk out the hospital. "What about Kiera, is she ok?" I ask the nurse. "Yea she ok. We stopped the bleeding and she regained consciousness. She's in stable condition. She also started asking to see someone named Leonardo." The nurse says shocking us with the last part. "Uh ok I'll go get him." Tay says and goes to get him. A few minutes later he comes back with Leo. "Ok sir follow me she says and takes leo to Kiera's room. About 20 minutes later he comes back with tears pouring out of his eyes. Suddenly I get a call. It's nova.
On call:
Nova:Jaylen where are y'all, is Kiera ok.
Jaylen: we're at the hospital, she's in stable condition and Leo just left her room.
Nova: why was he in her room
Jaylen: me and tay was confused about it too but clearly she asked to see him.
Nova: Well when you get to see her FaceTime me ok.
Jaylen:ok I will
*ends call*
"Leo what happened, why are you crying" I ask him. "It's just a lot seeing her like that. then the fact we weren't on good terms when all of this happened." He says through his tears.
3 hours later...
I was in Kiera's hospital room sleeping in the chair when I hear her say something. "Jay ,baby wake up" I hear her voice say very weakly. "Kie?.." I say still half way sleep. "Why are you still here the boys left after they came to see me." She asks sitting up a little. She winces. "Be careful" I say getting up to adjust her pillows. "Lay with me" she say patting the space next to her. I lay next to her and I just hold her. Within a few minutes she fell asleep on my chest. I kissed her forehead before falling to sleep.
In the morning...
I wake up to the sound of my phone ringing. It was Nova again. I answer her call and tell her I'd call her later when Kie woke up. She didn't wake up until an hour later. "I'm hungry" was the first thing she said. "Ok I'll order some food. What do you wanna eat." I say pulling out my phone. "Can we get chic-fil-a" she asks. "Yea sure whatever you want" I say pulling up chic-fil-a on door dash. Once I place the order I call Nova. She picks up instantly.
*On call*
Nova: Is she awake.
Jaylen: Yea that's why I called.
Kiera: Is that Nova
Nova: KIERA IS THAT YOU
I hand the phone to her.
Nova:Omg I'm so glad you're ok how are you feeling
Kiera: I feel ok, kinda sore though
Nova: I'm just glad you're alive. How's your dad doing I know he got shot aswell.
Kiera: I actually don't know I haven't gotten any updates on him.
Kiera: Nova our food is here we'll call you later.
Nova: Ok girl get better soon love ya
*call ends*
While we're eating I can't help but stare at her. "Is something wrong with my dad" she blurts out. "No...what makes you think that." I ask her even though I know the truth I just don't want to be the bearer of bad news. Just then the nurse walks in with Leo. "You have another visitor Ms.Martinez." The nurse says then leaves. "Hey sis, how you feeling today" He says sitting in the chair next to the bed. "I feel ok, how's dad doing?" She asks him. He tears up "H-he didn't make it Kie" he says choking on his words. She starts crying and all I do is hold her in my arms.
