Scott's POV

When Y/N walked back into the room she looked almost defeated. Her eyes were dull and the smile I saw when she left was no longer present on her face. She climbed back up onto the hospital bed without looking at me. The doctor made eye contact with me and gestured for me to follow him into the hallway. I get up and follow him our allowing him to close the door.

"What happened?" I ask.

"Her brain isn't picking up the waves coming from her nerves. Her nerves register touch but her brain doesn't process it." Dr. Carter explains.

"So what does that mean for her?" I ask.

"Well we could try stimulating her brain so see if it can start to process touch or she may live the rest of her life without being able to feel anything" The doctor explains to me.

"Has she decided on proceeding with the stimulation process?" I asked.

"She asked for me to call her brother first. I wanted to explain to you what's going on before I went to call her brother." Dr. Carter explains.

"Thank you" I say before I head back into the room.

Y/N looks up at me with dull eyes. The were shiny with tears. My heart broke at the sight.

"Did he tell you? Did he tell you how broken I am?" She asks her voice breaking slightly.

I quickly walk over grabbing her face gently. "You are not broken. You are the strongest person I've ever met." I say to her.

Sobs wreck through her body as she throws her arms around my neck tightly. I stumble forward slightly as she pulls me into the tightest hug. I slowly wrap my arms around her hugging her back.

"Why me? Why did life give me all these problems?" She sobs into my shoulder.

"Because life knew you were strong enough to handle them." I say to her.

Knocking on the door cause us to pull apart. Y/N quickly whips the tears off her face as the doctor walks in.

"How are you feeling Y/N?" Dr. Carter asks.

Y/N shrugs slightly. "I.. I'm not sure" Y/N answers.

"That's understandable." Dr. Carter says as he pulls a chair close to Y/N and sits down. "I talked to Wesley. I explained to him my findings and what I would like to do next. He said that if you want to go through with the next procedure we can go ahead an schedule it."

Y/N looks over to me as if she was looking for some confirmation from me to go through with the procedure. I give her a slight nod.

"I'll do it" Y/N says.

"Great. Im gonna have you fill out of paperwork for me while i get that scheduled for you. Do you have any specific timeframe you want this appointment to be in?" Dr. Carter asks.

"Wesley is typically available in the afternoons. Can we do an early afternoon appointment?" Y/N asks.

"Of course we can. Let me give you these to fill out as well as give Scott these to take home with you. It's just explains a bit more about the procedure." Dr. Carter explains as he hands me the papers on the procedure and then hand Y/N the documents to fill out. "I will be back after I schedule the procedure"

Dr. Carter leaves to schedule Y/N's procedure. Y/N sighs as she starts to slowly read through the document.

"Patient may experience excruciating pain" Y/N reads before scoffing. "Except patient can't feel pain"

I couldn't help but listen to her read off certain parts of the document. Her face would occasionally contort in a smirk or she would roll her eyes at certain parts. She eventually starts to sign the documents.

"I hope this works" She whispers as she does the final signature.

The doctor walks back in shortly afterward. Y/N hands the signed documents to the doctor who takes them with a quick thank you.

"Your procedure is scheduled for next Tuesday at noon. Please don't eat anything that morning. We typically say nothing to eat after 10 pm the day before. You are allowed to drink water up till 10 am the morning off." The doctor explains.

"Thank you," Y/N says nodding in acknowledgment.

"You are good to go. I will see you in a week" Dr. Carter says before leaving.

Y/N and I head back to my car so I can take her home. I reach over and grab her hand gently once we were in the car.

"You okay?" I ask her.

"Yeah" She says quietly.

"You're lying to me" I say to her.

She looks up at me. "Im scared. What if this doesn't work? What if it makes it worse?" She says.

"Then I will help you learn to cope with new changes" I say to her.

She relaxes as a small smile creeps up on her face. "Im glad to have a friend like you in my life" She says causing me to smile.

"I am too. Let's get you home" I say before driving her home, her hand still held tightly in mine.
