Hailee's POV:
"Hailee!" Griffin walks into my room, shaking me awake. I groan and forcefully pull the covers up to my neck.
"Mm... get out!" I say asi try to get back to sleep. I then feel a huge gust of wind. Griffin had taken the covers completely off of me now.
"Ugh! What is it, Griffin?"
"What'd you mean, you're gonna be late. You told me to wake you up." Griffin tells me. Late for what? He must've read my mind.
"You're gonna be late for your interview. At Capital?" Griffin reminds me. It then hits me — shit. I can't be late. The last time I was late, it was one awkward interview.
"Shit! What time is it?" I ask Griffin, who starts to take a look at his watch. "It's 7:00am. It starts at 7:30."
I rub the sleep out of my eyes and leave my bed. I quickly shower and get dressed, leaving my room to be a horrendous mess. "Thinking of cleaning that?"
"My house, my rules. I'll clean it up when I get home." Griffin nods at me. I then get my phone and bag. I rush downstairs and greet Martini and Brando. I debate on whether I should eat or not, but Griffin decides for me.
"You can get it on the road. Go!"
"I regret asking you to wake me up."
"Hey, you asked and I delivered." I roll my eyes and leave the house for Griffin to house-sit. I rush into my car and find my keys. As I jam the keys in, I hear my phone vibrate next to me. I quickly pick it up and notice the Instagram icon.
I then see what it is — (y/n) replied to my post:
(y/n)(y/l/n) thanks, love 😚
And there it was... the smile on my face. My day was going off to a crazy, horrible start yet here's a mere reply from (y/n) (y/l/n) to make those problems minimal. Shit, what am I doing?
"Snap out of it, Hailee. (y/n) isn't into you that way." I tell myself as I start the car. (y/n) and I have been friends for a while but lately, I'd been thinking about her more than usual. I don't know what to make of it, since we've been good friends for so long that we don't know any other way to label our dynamic.
No matter, I just won't say anything. Let me just drive myself to the interview and deal with this later.
I start to drive off and head onto the road — only to find out that it's filled with traffic. Really — at this time of day? Traffic?
But then again, traffic starts pretty early here in LA. I then sigh in frustration... this means I'll be late for my interview. This isn't good.
Oh, shit.
30 minutes later
"Good morning, Hailee."
"Morning!" I try to maintain a good posture and smile but I'm just dying inside. I shouldn't have pulled an all-nighter last night.
"Good of you to show up." The guy's sarcasm isn't clearly friendly. But I decide to continue smiling nonetheless. "Bad morning, y'know how it is." I say, getting into the elevator. He follows me.
"No. I don't, actually."
"Okay you know what, Mike —" I say pointing at him, getting in his face. I'm normally very courteous and respectful, but not when it comes to someone stripping me off my self-respect.
