Catherine and Tess pulled into the parking lot of the grocery store the same time as Captain Ward. The three walked together in silence towards the front of the store. Captain Ward went to talk to the medical examiner, while Catherine and Tess surveyed the crime scene. Five minutes later, Captain Ward approached the them.
"Chandler. Vargas. Victim's name is Dominic Shay. He has a gunshot wound to the head. Dead on arrival. Gun was in his hand. Medical examiner says he thinks it's suicide but he'll know for sure when he gets him to the precinct."
"What do you want us to do Captain?" asked Tess.
"We aren't ruling anything out so we treat Shay's death as suspicious. Run a background check, look for witnesses."
Catherine and Tess nodded and started walking back to the parking lot.
"Cat. Why don't I start doing the background checks and deal with the witnesses while you get a hold of Vincent. Maybe he can help? You know, because of the beast thing".
Tess made sure to whisper the last part.
"Okay. Cover for me if Ward starts asking questions."
"You got it."
