JT rounded the corner of the corridor and stopped infront of Tess' apartment. He took a deep breath and knocked on the door. It took a minute for Tess to answer the door dressed in pajamas.
"JT, hi. Was I meant to meet you for dinner or.."
"No, no. I just wanted to talk. Can I come in?"
Tess looked bewildered but stood back to let JT in.
"Thanks."
Tess closed the door.
"Do you want a beer?"
"Yeah, that'd be great thanks."
Tess took two beers out of the fridge and handed one to JT as they both sat down.
"What did you want to talk about?"
JT sighed.
"Tess, I feel like you don't want me to be your boyfriend anymore."
Tess' face fell.
"What. What are talking about?"
"We don't really talk much. If I ask you what's wrong, you just make up an excuse. Are you embarassed that you're dating me?"
Tess moved closer to JT and kissed him gently.
"Erm...Wow" gasped JT.
Tess laughed.
"Of course I'm not embarassed to be dating you. It's just.."
JT reached out and held Tess' hand and she smiled.
"My parents want to meet you."
JT spat out a mouthful of beer.
"What!"
"I told them about you and they said that they want to meet you. Like, soon."
JT smiled.
"Is that why you've been acting weird? Do you think that I can't handle them?"
"No, it's just that..."
"What Tess?"
Tess sighed.
"Whenever a guy that I've been dating meets my parents, they interrogate him, he freaks out and then bails on me. I just didn't want that to happen to you."
JT leaned in a kissed Tess.
"I'm not gonna bail on you Tess. I love you."
Tess smiled and put her hand on JT's face.
"I love you too."
