(Prologue)

Good god where the hell do I even begin with this story? So much has happened before on the railway and my head is literally throbbing just thinking about. Before that, my name is Jason, and I'm the engine driver of the North Western Railways No.5 James the red engine, who is still alive and well today, unfortunately most of the other engines on the island... well... I'll get to that when I need to, also a bit of a spoiler but the ending is something I to this day still can't understand. But with all that said, let me begin my story. It all began 20 years ago...

(End of Prologue)

August 15th, 2003:

I have a journal I bought from a gift shop weeks before the incidents happened so I could write down what I needed to so this will save a lot of trouble instead of trying to remember. I still have said journal to this very day.

Ok so I need to lay a little information here first; A few days before the events started, a crazy homeless man had somehow made his way onto the railway either by boat or the Vicarstown Bridge. And this guy was not in the right mental state, for example he was seen constantly mumbling out loud to himself about things like, "end of the North Western Railway", or "everyone is in danger". And not only that but he was known to be schizophrenic and suffering from depression. So yeah it sounds rough. And to top that all off he would trespass wherever he could and antagonize any workmen, passengers and engines about leaving the railway because he claimed the facility Sir Bertram Topham Hatt had recently built near Knapford was a threat to society, oh yeah did I mention that yet? Yes, A FUCKING FACILITY, ON A DAMN RAILWAY, I swear if that fat bastard thinks this will draw attention in a good way, he's dead wrong. And while I kinda agreed with that last part of the claim the crazy guy made, what the hell can any of us do about it? Anyways, one day however some of the workmen got tired of his ramblings and snapped at him saying to get the fuck off the railway before he got himself into trouble, the crazy man just stared at them for what seemed like hours before turning and simply walking away, to this day I wish they didn't snap at him because I'm pretty sure that made him lose it, what I mean by that will be saved for the near ending to the story.

7:15 am:

Me and Bob, who was the driver of Thomas the tank engine, were chatting with each other while Thomas and James were being steamed up at Tidmouth sheds for their morning jobs. All the other engines had left to do their jobs so the sheds we're nice and quiet. Then out of the blue we hear a loud explosion boom in the distance nearby, we all knew where that came from and we quickly backed Thomas and James into the sheds before waiting for the shockwave to hit, it didn't take long and boy was it pretty strong. It caused some of the windows in the sheds to shatter but other than that we we're safe. Before it hit the sirens started to blare and all that really woke up Thomas and James, then after the sirens stopped blaring, and an hour of waiting later, I decided to head up the line by foot to see what had transfired. When I got to where the explosion was heard, I couldn't believe it. You see, as I mentioned ealrier, a new experiment facility was built near Knapford Station. Yes, Knapford Station of all places to basically "experiment" on how to improve the railway, I bet you that Bertram agreed to have this thing built to gain more money and expand his railway.

Not only that, but the facility was built to also experiment on the engines, I think to myself "why the hell is this even allowed?" But the big man always says, "I know it's something to be concerned about, but if we want this railway to prosper, we must take chances".

Yes well, about the explosion, I found out later on that a leaking tank full of gas stored inside one of the rooms in the facility was lit on fire due to a lit match which caused the massive explosion, no body was hurt and everyone at the platforms we're far enough away so they we're also good, but shocked to say the least. Shortly thereafter a whole team of police and ambulance cars arrived at the scene, along with the stout gentleman himself, he was pissed to say the least, but after calming down he told me to get back to work, and so I did, he even mentioned when he has the chance he'll spread the word of Knapford being closed for the time being to figure out what to do. I understood and started to leave. Although while I was leaving the place, I saw Arthur standing near the facility, besides his terrified expression due to being so near to the explosion, he also looked as green as a leaf, I assumed he had boiler ache so I guessed his crew would see to help him out. Little did I know something from that now destroyed facility would be released and it would be the start of something absolutely disasterous.

9:55 am:

Later on that day we all headed down to the stone quarry near Brenadm as Topham had assigned us a job of taking stone to Vicarstown goods yards as some buildings were yet to be built for storing more goods trains there. While we were there James was teasing Thomas about how when the explosion happened Thomas screamed in a way that was funny to James. Thomas wasn't happy and let him know it.

I told James to shut up and leave the damn tank engine alone, I groaned in frustration as I regretted that in an instant as James grew pissed at me for telling him off

Just then I received a call on my phone, it was from Arthur's driver. Holy shit I completely forgot about the poor tank engine but before I could get a single word out of my mouth I heard the driver from the other end of the phone shout. "JESUS CHRIST HELP US ARTH-".

That was the last thing I heard before the end went silent. Thomas asked me what was wrong and I simply told him, "I have no idea." Should've just told him the truth but I guess it's too late.
