Chapter 24 : Childhood Memories?

MIZUKO'S P.O.V

Today is the day that I'll be going back to the surface! I miss my friends and Haru-chan~! As I stepped on the sand, the sand sticked to my feet making me ticklish.

The salty water traveling down through my nose made me taste the sea's saltiness, and the sea breeze that travels across the bay made me miss the surface even though I went home just for a few days.

I was walking fast since I don't want to be late at school, my dress transformed into my school uniform, good thing I have some magic prepared or else, I would be the attention of the whole school.

Some of my schoolmates were already walking inside, I hurriedly went in. I miss the pool, I miss my swimsuit! I miss the smell of chlorine! Then I went to my classroom but before opening the door, I tidied up myself.

Here it goes! As I walked inside, many of my classmates were talking with each other and greeted me.

"Oh Mizuko! You're back!"

"How have you been? Did you catch a winter cold?"

I answered them, I guess they really miss me! I saw Haru sitting grumpily on his seat, "Haru-chan~" I jumped and surprised him but he didn't pay attention to me. He mouthed something as he was looking outside the window with a grumpy expression.

"Did something happen while I'm gone?" I asked Haru. He didn't answer and I sat in front of him, like where I always sit. My head turned when the door opened, I saw Makoto. "Oh! Mizuko!" His face brightened when he saw me.

"Good morning Mako-chan~!" I cheerfully greeted, I hope Haru gets my happy virus too! He sat down on his seat, "Did something happen while I was gone?" I asked.

"Well...." He was interrupted when I saw an unfamiliar face, my attention was caught by a girl. "Ye-yes?" She trembled when I asked, "I...I...." I barely heard her since she told it with a hushed voice. My face went closer to hers, but she got startled and jumped making her fall back.

"I sit there..." She told me. ..... What? "Mako-chan?! Is that true?!" I grabbed his collar and started shaking him around, "Then where am I supposed to sit?" That reminds me, why is she going to sit there? I was just absent for a few days, and I feel like an outsider now.

The bell rang, and they all sat down while I was just standing at the corner with no shame, standing still like a post. "Good Morning class! Oh Mizuko!" Miho-sensei slid the door open, and she suddenly saw me on the corner.

"Sensei, where am I supposed to seat?" I asked. "Hmm, oh yeah! U-uh..." She looked around the class but every table was already occupied, what am I going to do now? "Hmm, share a sit with your two friends. Mako and Haru-chan?" She suggested.

"Here." Sensei offered her chair, "But..." I was too shy to accept it. "Well, I can't let my student stand all day, right?" Well, she's right. I bowed and took the chair, then me and Haru were sharing books and tables.

Class ends and Miho-sensei already left the classroom, Haru put his books inside his bag. "Mako-chan, can I eat some of your lunch?" My head pivot to the right where Makoto was. "You don't any lunch with you? Su-"

"Here." Unexpectedly, Haru gave me an extra lunchbox with delicious food inside. "What? Did you actually prepared this for me? You knew that I was coming back." It got me curious, my mouth kept showing my rich white teeth as if I can't close it.
