Chapter 23: The Sea...

KOU'S P.O.V

It was a normal day, following the path going to my school until I saw Mizuko. She walked like Sadako. Wha-what the heck!? I ran up to her and she looked nasty and unpleasant.

She smelled like mackerel and her hair is covering her face, you could also see the dark circles under her eyes. "What happened to you?" I asked.

"I miss the sea." She said. "Hm, then.... try not going to school for a while. I'll make a reasonable excuse. Is that alright?" I asked. "Are you sure? Will that worry Haru-chan and the others!?" She looked relieved yet there

was a hint of worry. I nodded and Mizuko sighed, "Well, health is more important and I'm not feeling good. Tell Haru-chan I'm going home, and I'm not coming back for a while." She trailed off.

I giggled. "Take care!" I shouted.

MIZUKO'S P.O.V

I miss the sea. I was standing in front of the sea, and everything was so clear. I could hear my friend's voices. I jumped in, I didn't mind my uniform getting wet because it transformed into my black dress that I always wear.

"Mizuko-chan~" They circled me and kept confusing me, "Where have you been? You were out for so long~! Anyways, did you find the boy you've been searching for?" They asked me, I was making a bubble. "Yeah."

"Wah, really now? So is he handsome now? Do you have a crush on him? I bet you do." They teased. "Waa~ Shut or else, I'll let you play with the sharks."

"Forgive us." They laughed, "So, we found another place we could hang out to." They started swimming around, then I asked, "What do you mean?" They swam away from me and pointed using their tail. "We found something in the heart of the ocean." They told me.

"Well then, let's go there!" I was interested, and we raced each other. As we swam going in the heart of the ocean, the corals were getting more mystical and beautiful, "H-how did you find this place?" I asked while touching them lightly.

The corals were very healthy and I saw small fishes hiding inside, I waved and they went out and greeted me. "We're just busy while you're out." They grinned. There were colorful corals around, and the bubbles were glowing beautifully, they were just like fireflies except they're in underwater.

We searched for some treasures, but it was common since all of them can be seen everywhere somewhere in the ocean. "Nothing's interesting here." I pouted, "You're right, who would think that a thing like this would be so interesting." The fishes pulled out a staff, "Wait, that looks interesting." It seems I've changed my mind.

I took the staff from the ocean's floor. "It doesn't look so common. It has a different design. Staff that I saw on town are fairy staffs, so I guess this is important. I'll keep it for a while." My hand gripped the staff tightly so I wouldn't lose it, I can lose things easily so you better not give me your engagement ring or else...

"Mizuko-chan~ So, how does human food taste like?" They asked, then I felt a chill running through down my spine, I felt pale. Sorry, my comrades but I ate your species. I wanted to say it but, "Vegetables~! Yummy." I decided to lie.

"Anyways, keep this as a secret.... okay?" My head went closer to theirs, "I ate takoyaki."

"Oh! I heard that from some humans when we were near the bay, how does it taste like?"

My eyes sparkled, "It tasted good, don't tell this to old man Octopus, alright?" I flashed my puppy eye face, "Not a word." They grinned. See? That's why fishes are a maiden's best friend.

"Let's go back." I said to them and they nodded, incase if you're wondering, I live inside a cave under the sea. The cave doesn't have a monster inside, since I guard the sea. It's my duty to protect the sea or King Neptune will kill me. I put the staff under my bed, my bed was made of seashells, so it's a little fragile. But beggars can't be choosers.

My friends came back, I went home by myself and they visited me, because they gave me some lotus cookies. It was from King Neptune's kingdom. "Hurrat! This looks so delicious~!" I ate them and my taste buds started dancing as the honey's sweetness landed my tongue. Lotus cookies with honey glaze? What an honor!

HARU'S P.O.V

It wasn't usually a normal day for me especially when a girl is following you all day. "Will you stop following me?" I calmly asked trying to hold my temper. But she kept on following me not listening to my words.

Makoto can't help me since he can't make a girl go away. My pace was getting faster but I can't shake this girl, she's too persistent. I made a run for it and dashed down the stairs, as I looked up....

I stopped and the next thing I know, the girl was inside my arms, I felt her body heating up. She was just a new student, and she followed me all day. I pushed her away from me in a polite way, of course, and left her in the stairs blushing.

You're cute but you're not the one I like.

She still followed me. Tch, what does she want from me?
