Y/ns' POV

--------------------

I was stretching, it was the middle of the day and I had to train in the heat. I grabbed a crossbow and began training with Papa. Today was it, the moment I've been waiting for all year. If I passed this class, along with the rest, I wouldn't to do classed, study, or do anything like that anymore. I put a shield on my left arm.

I had to beat Papa at least three times in a 1v1 duel in crossbow. I grabbed the handle of the weapon and loaded it in quickly. We were in the battle while Dad and Father were in the announcers' box. I made my way to the middle of the battle field, I shook hands with Papa,
"The rules are simple, you must defend you targets at all costs. You will turn around and I will count ten paces. When I reach one, turn and aim fire. Any cheating or recklessness earns another month of studying. " Dad explained, I mentally groaned. I worked so hard these past thirteen years and I was not about to give up. I turned around, listening to the numbers as I took one step forward each number. Finally, there it was,
"One! " I quickly turned around, Papa took a bit longer and I hit his first target. He tried going for mine, quickly rolling, I blocked the arrow and took aim. He saw my move and guarded the target I looked to be aiming at. I took the shot but moved so it really hit the target on the left, I watched as he bit back a scowl and aimed. By the look of his stance, he was trying to copy me. I could see he was aiming for the middle target and I chose a risky move, I aimed and fired. He had to block the arrow, releasing his arrow. I blocked it and took shot again, Papa was trying to recover as I reloaded. We aimed at each others targets, 'Make your move, take the shot. ' I thought to myself. I shot the arrow, he followed pursuit and our arrows collided.
I reloaded and shot again, he tried to reached the arrow but it was too late. I had passed the first test.

I was in getting ready for the last test, Papa had congratulated me for passing him. I felt so proud, I was gonna be a normal teenager after this. Dad came up to me and handed me the compass,
"Find the three flags we hid, retrieve it, and bring it back. " I nodded and made my way to the entrance of the forest, I got ready for confirmation.
I pulled my mask onto my face and listened,
"Three.. two.. one.. Go! " I dashed off, passing by trees and brush. I could feel the wind hitting my body. I took a minute to look for clues, I could see a tree had been scrapped up, I felt the slashes. They were fresh, I climbed up the tree and ran though the branches. Every once in a while, I'd find a good enough vine and swing to the next tree.
I felt so free in this type of environment, I stopped noticing a glint of color, the first flag. It was hidden in an abandoned birds nest. I grabbed the flag and put it in my satchel, I raced back into the dense trees. I stopped to listen, something was off. I could here voices, I slowly made my way to a small lake, it only had a few fish in it. But it felt, attractive.
I could see a glint of red vines inside. I snapped out of it, I had to hurry. I was about to run back to the rest of the trees when I saw a flash of silver. The green flag, I grabbed it and stuffed it into the bag and carried on, only one more flag.
And I knew exactly where is was.
