So disclaimer stuff where I say that I don't own these characters or star wars and stuff like that.

Also I am still on hiatus, I just wrote this to clear my head on a road trip. It has not been re-read or edited at all, so apologies in advance. I thought that this was a nice little 'cannon' close enough add on to the season 5 finale of Clone Wars. Enjoy everyone :)

Ahsoka descended the steps of the temple. The sky was a delicate orange and complimented the turning clouds in a comforting way. She couldn't look back. Anakin was likely still standing there with her padawan beads. Ahsoka reached the end of the stares and stopped in her tracks. Something rose up within her. A sickening sort of empty. Ahsoka swallowed hard and put her hand against her chest. Her heart was pounding and the sky's comforting colour turned dark, as if it were the taunting orange of a fire. The burning fire of all Ahsoka knew, it was all being consumed by flames. Ahsoka didn't dare turn around. She knew that wasn't the right path for her. The Jedi Council hadn't believed her. Even if it was all she knew, it wasn't where she should be. Instead of going back she took a seat on the steps.

The sun slowly set and Ahsoka watched the fire sky turn to a dark ashy one. This was the aftermath of a fire, the fire she set when she left the order. Ahsoka stared at the sky above and silent tears fell down her cheeks. She reached for her beads, an old habit of comfort, only to remember that she gave them, and what they stood for, up. It was all over. Ahsoka looked down at her arms and began to trace the scars from the different battles. All the missions, all the fights, and yet now she sat at the base of the temple stairs. Most of the scars had begun to fade, the one's from her first adventure with Anakin were basically invisible now. Still, Ahsoka examined her skin and all its marks.

She was so distracted she didn't even notice the long approaching footsteps. As the sound finally registered much, Ahsoka jumped, were her skills dulling already? It had only been mere hours since she left. Looking up, Ahsoka recognized the face of Plo Koon. He didn't say anything or try to impart any wisdom, he simply sat down beside her and stared off into the distance. Ahsoka followed his gaze to the city horizon. It was a long time before either of them spoke.

"How did you know I was out here?" Ahsoka asked. She kept looking forward as she broke the silence between them.

"I didn't," Plo Koon responded. "I came out for a walk to clear my head. I didn't realize that you hadn't gone far." Ahsoka dared a brief glance at the Jedi. He was the one who brought her to the temple. Attachment wasn't encouraged yet Plo Koon had checked in on her as she trained. He was a friend. He was the closest Ahsoka had to family besides Anakin and Obi-Wan.

"Are you going to ask me to return?"

"Is that what you want?"

"No," Ahsoka said, definitely. All this time sitting here, she'd known that going forward was the only path she truly wanted. She just couldn't bring herself to move as time did. "I don't think I believe in the Jedi anymore. Not like I did. This isn't where I'm meant to be, Master." The clouds blew across the sky in their slow, prolonging way. The quiet was almost eerie and Ahsoka wondered what her old friend was thinking.

"We failed you Ahsoka. I failed you." Plo Koon paused. "And for that, I am greatly sorry." Plo Koon looked down at his feet and pulled a medallion with the jedi order's symbol on it from his pocket. "This wasn't how I saw your life going."

"How did you see it?" Ahsoka asked. It was understandable that he couldn't have seen this coming, but what had he expected for her? Did he really foresee this life of fighting and war for the child he brought here all those years ago?

"Things have been different in recent years. This war has lasted too long and in some ways the jedi have become too involved. I always thought that you'd make an excellent master one day. I sensed it even when you were just a child." Plo Koon closed his hand over the medallion. "But, this course of action makes sense. If it's really what you want, you will be missed."

"Thank you, Master."

"It's Plo Koon. You are not a Padawon and so I am no longer a Master to you." He placed his hand on Ahsoka's shoulder. "I still believe that you will do great things Ahsoka. You've always had a way of surprising those who know you and pulling off great feets in the process." Plo Koon seemed ready to stand and go, but Ahsoka wanted him to stay just a little longer.

"Barris," she started. "Do you think she's right?"

"She was lead a stray Ahsoka, that much I know. As someone who'd saved her life at great risk of your own, she never should have framed you like that."

"So you don't know what to think about her claims." Ahsoka was calm and controlled in her words. She felt, in an odd way, that she sounded more like a jedi than she did her whole life.

"I do not believe the Jedi started this war. As for our part in it... We are keepers of the peace and yet most younglings have only known their lives as soldiers. All they've been since they became jedi are soldiers."

"Do you have mixed feelings about the war?"

"Very much so. I am hoping it'll all come to end soon enough though. Then... then the council can meet and address our part in this conflict. That way, if something like this were to happen again, we will be better prepared to be the PeaceKeepers weren't meant to be, instead of the soldiers we've appeared to become." Ahsoka smiled at this and finally turned to her old friend.

"I still can't be a part of the order. Not now at least." Plo Koon met Ahsoka's eyes and nodded. Ahsoka glanced at the sky and knew that morning wasn't too far off. She couldn't be here then, not with the risk of Anakin being so close by. "Master- Plo Koon, I'm worried about Anakin. I'm worried what my leaving will do to him." Plo Koon rubbed his chin thinking on this.

"Anakin has the Order to support and guide him. I know you have lost faith in the council, but I think you know that Obi-Wan will be there and their bond is strong. Your master will be alright. It's you who he's worried about. You are now facing the galaxy alone for the first time in your known memory you don't have the order or the clones behind you." Ahsoka let the night air fill her lungs and she closed her eyes. Opening them she spotted the bird that always seemed to follow her. The spirit of the light side of the force. Another smile sprouted across her face.

"I think I find that fact comforting actually." She mused, watching the bird swoop back and forth above. Ahsoka then stood up and Plo Koon did the same. "I should be going now," Ahsoka sighed, tearing her gaze from the sky. "I will come back one day. Maybe not as a Jedi, but as an ally." Ahsoka wasn't sure what she was going to do, only she knew that she wouldn't leave forever. She wanted to see Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Plo Koon again. Though, it felt like that was a distant, distant future. Ahsoka turned to the person who first brought her to the temple. Now, he would be the last one to see her leave. "Don't tell Anakin I lingered please."

"Of course." Ahsoka nodded. She moved to walk away, but stopped abruptly and turned to Plo Koon instead. She smiled at him and Plo Koon read her mind, pulling her into his arms and hugging her. They pulled away shortly after and Ahsoka felt a type of closure wash over her. She knew, now with less uncertainty, that this was right. "Goodbye Ahsoka." Plo Koon nodded and Ahsoka's smile grew sad.

"Goodbye, Master." Ahsoka looked up at the temple one last time, sensing where Obi-Wan and Anakin were within the walls. Then without another world or look over her shoulder Ahsoka walked away and this time she didn't pause or sit to watch the time pass. She moved forward; no longer a Jedi.

And that makes the cover/description of this story no longer a lie. I said it had Clone Wars, Rebels, and Bad Batch and for months it has only included the last two listed there. Anyways, thanks for reading and I'm always up to taking suggestions and prompts. However, I do not do non-canon ships so don't ask for them, but since no one ever makes requests if you do there's a chance I'll do it. Lastly, I love that Google Docs recognizes Ahsoka and Plo Koon's names, along with the word 'padawan' as real words, but yet Wattpad is freaking out over the spelling. It's just odd considering that Wattpad is often used for fanfiction including those characters as I can imagine. Alright, hope you're all doing okay and if you aren't or are just getting by I sincerely hope things get better for you because everyone deserves that at least :)
