Monoceros Caeli V: Everything I Can't Forget

Ajax groggily opened his eyes, yawning as he stared up at the ceiling of his room.

He had just had the best sleep he's ever had since he had been fourteen, and for the first time in forever he actually felt properly rested and energized, ready to start the new day. He wasn't sure if it was because of the little critter keeping him company at night, or the odd visitor he had in his dream, but either way, Ajax decided that, for once, he actually liked sleeping.

He felt something wriggling next to him, only for small, quiet chirps to fill his ears as Lapis nuzzled into his neck.

"Good morning to you too." Ajax tilted his head to press a small kiss to Lapis' snout, "Did you have a good sleep?"

Ajax got more squeaks in response, and took it as a yes.

Sitting up, the boy stretched, scratching his back as he ambled into the kitchen to brew himself from coffee as Lapis slipped off the bed to follow him. Usual, he never had the energy to make his own coffee after waking up from a nightmare, hugging himself protectively and unable to fall back sleep, and had no choice but to grab a cup of coffee from the a coffee stop near the university as he went for his lessons.

Thank goodness for Venti, the Music student who was somehow always awake at some ungodly hour, and also happened to take the morning shifts at that particular coffee shop. The kid was annoying, always belting out some random poem or ballad for no reason, but Ajax really appreciated Venti for making his coffee ahead of time, just in time for him to pick it up and not have to wait.
