Nandini woke up, her head was foggy again; her right hand was twisting in pain, although now the back seemed slightly better. What had happened, she tried recollecting, as her eyes focused to see where she was. This didn't look like the hospital; now it was coming back, she was in the private waiting room, Aryamann had come to meet her, he was going away and she was trying to stop him. Oh God. Did she blackout again? Oh no, Manik would freak out! This time he'd leave no stones unturned to figure out what was happening! What if Alia opened her mouth? No, no. She had to stop all that; but where was she? As she tried getting up, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her sore right arm. "Ouchh" she yelped in pain; aah the drip, she was back on it, she thought wilfully. But it didn't hurt at all last night; she wondered why it was painful today?
"Are you okay Nandu? Do you need something?" she heard his voice and quickly turned around; Aryamann was standing there. He looked disturbed. Nandini frowned, he looked paler than usual, and he wasn't even masking his concern; don't worry Nandini, give him fifteen minutes, he will flip again, she said to herself.
"I am fine Aryamann, where am I?" she asked quietly.
"In my suite" he replied.
"You have a suite in the hospital?" she asked, surprised.
"Of course not, we are in my hotel; I am putting up here for my stay" he replied looking at her with a small smile. Wait, Aryamann was SMILING? This must be the day of the apocalypse she thought to herself; but wait. What? She was in his hotel with him?
"What? Are you serious? What am I doing here? Is Soha ma'am here too? What is wrong with you, why would you bring me here Aryamann? Also where is Manik? Does he know I am here? He will be worried sick otherwise!! Where is Abhimanyu, does he even know? What were you thinking Aryamann, please give me my phone right now" she spoke in one breath, and to her surprise it wore her out; she was breathing heavily and somehow sinking back on the bed. What was happening to her, she wondered, as beads of sweat started covering her forehead. She slowly turned to look at Aryamann, he was looking alarmed. He got up on the bed next to her and offered her a tablet; she could barely move, but she tried to get up and take it. At this point she realised she needed medicines more than answers.
"Nandu please stay calm and focused okay? I will tell you everything; just don't stress, just try and relax; can you do that?" he asked her gently; she could barely nod.
"To begin with, you have had another blackout as you might have realised by now; the doses of medication are heavier now so you are very weak; plus you are mildly sedated so you must be feeling..." but she didn't let him complete.
"I figured all this, you're not answering my questions" she said with much difficulty.
"Okay, okay stop talking. I will tell you everything. So, to answer your question, no, Soha is not here, she has flown back to Bangalore early this morning. Also, Soha and I have filed for a divorce again; so even when she was here, she was staying in a different suite, not this one. Also, I texted your friend Manik on your behalf and told him you have gone to Jalandhar with Abhimanyu for a change of scenery as the doctor had suggested it will do you good. So he isn't either worried or looking for you; also it looks like your friend Abhimanyu isn't aware of your condition as yet; and here is your phone" he finished and handed her her phone.
"How did you unlock my phone?" she asked sheepishly
"Nandu, it's not difficult to remember ones' own birthday!" he smiled at her.
