Nandini stared at Aryamann, he was behaving differently, he was trying to open up to her, something he hadn't done in, wait, ever! He was trying to justify his rationales for all his actions from the past and, and accepting his mistakes, taking responsibilities. As Nandini kept looking at his face, she could hardly concentrate; something was not right. Did Manik threaten to do something bad to him? Why else will this ever egoistic man ever behave sane or normal and do things like accept his flaws and apologise?

"Nandu, are you listening to me?" he broke into her reverie.

"Ye..Yes of course, you were saying?"

"I was saying, your LIIT is here"

"Who ordered that? I don.."

"But isn't this your favourite?" he asked surprised, Nandini smiled. LIITs weren't her favourite anymore, it was back in the days, but nowadays it gave her a bad hangover; she preferred Chardonnays. Manik knew that; but she smiled, Aryamann was making an effort here, to what effect she wasn't sure, but she appreciated it nonetheless.

"No, no you are right, I like LIIT" she replied and accepted the drink from the waiter.

Aryamann was talking about how he was going not only for a mutual separation with Soha ma'am, he was selling his share in AKP & Associates. He wanted a clean break from her, he wanted to start life afresh, he mentioned how Saara his daughter is older now and more accepting, how he was ready now. Wait, Nandini's head shot up, ready for what?

Nandini felt out of breath, she was looking at Aryamann, he was on his knees now, when did he go down on his knees? Was it when she was texting Manik to check if he had reached home safely? Wait, did he just propose to her? Wait, what, why?!

"Well Ms. Nandini Murthy, would you be so kind as to give us another fighting chance, so that I can erase all the wrongs of the past and make a brand new life with you?" he asked her, looking into Nandini's eyes, while she looked back at him blankly. Her mind had completely shut off, she could almost hear the 'tinggg' noise inside her head. Few seconds passed, still she had no response. She was staring blankly at him, hadn't Abhimanyu said, over time she'd know? She'd know who she loves more, Manik or Aryamann? How is it that Aryamann was on his knees with a ring now and still she loved them both? What would she say!? God damn it!

"Nandu, my knee is kind of hurting now" she heard him say, 'so your sugar daddy has developed knee problems now? Watch out Nandini, age is catching up' Manik would have definitely said this if he were here, she almost laughed thinking about that.

"Smoke." she replied.

"What?" Aryamann asked, perplexed.

"I need a smoke. Get up please, let's first have a smoke" she replied, and before he could react, she held him by the elbow and pulled him up to his feet. As he got up looking surprised, Nandini sighed in relief; she had bought herself some time now.

"Since when do you smoke?" he asked with knitted brows.

"Years" she replied nonchalantly as she picked up her pack and offered him one.

"No thanks, I am trying to quit for you again" he replied, she nodded in understanding, as she lit her cigarette. He looked at her with a strange expression. She knew this version of hers was as alien to him as his new version was to her.
