Luna tried not to wince as JK cleaned her wound, not wanting to make him worry. She didn't want to use any numbing agents in fear of it messing with her nerves. The cut ran diagonally across the entire palm of her hand; and was grueling shades of blue and purple around the row of stitches embedded there. Thank God her other hand wasn't nearly as bad—two stitches in one of her knuckles and the rest was minor surface level scratches and light bruising.
"Almost done Noona," he assures, looking over at her as he threw away the cotton pads he'd used and opened the gauze.
"Take your time baby," she says, assuring him there was no rush.
The two definitely felt more at peace after sleeping together. It gave Luna peace of mind knowing that he was safe and sleeping next to her; and it gave him a sense of comfort, while also fulfilling his need to take care of her. Throughout the night when she'd be sleeping, he'd lie awake for some time just looking for signs of discomfort and re-positioning her hands so she wouldn't wake up in more pain than necessary.
They reveled in the stillness of the house, nobody that they could hear being up yet. Yesterday was quite the day so they'd both decided to sleep earlier than usual.
After the family meeting, Luna had decided she needed to take care of some things and first on her list was calling Eric. She'd just signed him the week before this happened and now, her future with Bighit was uncertain to say the least. She felt it fair to share that with him, but also assure him that no matter what happened, he would still be her artist and she'd advocate for him the same way she does for herself—and if all else fails, she'd buy him out of his contract and re-sign him if that's what he wanted. He'd been incredibly sweet, empathetic, and understanding—his focus more on how she was doing rather than the business side of things, and that was more refreshing than anything.
Shortly after that, Lola had come ringing her doorbell like the police, worried sick. She'd stayed back in Houston to take care of some personal things, but caught a flight right back when she caught wind of everything. As expected, Luna's family was pissed and worried sick and she had to convince them all not to come. As much as she appreciated it, what she needed right now was space more than anything.
Her parents had come over with dinner and Luna had to practically beg Linda and Lola not to stay the night—her soulmates chiming in to assure them that she'd be fine. She did tell Lola to come back this morning though because she couldn't write right now and she needed to organize her thoughts so she could they could come up with a plan that would best protect her business wise.
"All done Noona, now you can shower," JK says, placing a sweet kiss on the back of her hand.
"Thank you baby," she smiles, laying her uninjured palm on his cheek.
He gently helps her down off the counter and slides her robe off her shoulders before assisting her with sliding her hands in the little plastic glove like coverings she had to keep her bandaging from getting too wet in the shower, even though it was waterproof. This was the hard part for Luna. She couldn't even bathe herself and was hoping a praying for the day that the stitches would be removed from the knuckles of right hand. It wasn't that she felt like a burden. She knew that JK had a thing about taking care of her even more since the incident and that the others wouldn't mind at all either. It was that she felt helpless to an extent. She'd woken up the day of the incident completely able bodied and woke up in a hospital bed without being able to use her hands—her most used and cherished body parts. Without them, her independence was stripped away; and naturally, she was resentful about it.
She did her best not to allow it to affect her mood though. How could she when JK was washing her body like it would break? He was incredibly concentrated, frowns on his forehead and his lips poked out in a pout as he worked. Instead, she watched him—knowing him well enough to know that the wheels in his head were turning as well. How couldn't they be?
"Kookie?" she calls when he's rinsing the last of the conditioner out of her hair.
"Hm?" he asks, looking down at her with concern.
"Everything will be okay. It's going to take some time, but it will," she says, wrapping her arms around him and laying her head on his chest.
"I know Noona," he says, returning her embrace, his chin resting on top of her head.
They both stayed like that, silent tears mixing with the shower water until they ran dry.
Luna sat curled up in Tae's arms, watching Joon, JK, Hobi, and Jimin move the plethora of flower arrangements she'd been receiving over closer to the windows.
"As much as I hate to, I'm gonna have to have Lola find a plant nursery to donate most of these two. There's a small jungle in here," she says, making him chuckle.
"I don't know. You may want to give it a few weeks. Hyung's having a field day taking care of them all," he says, making her smile as they watched Joon instruct the others on where to put each plant determined by how much sun they'd need.
"You're right. He seems like he's in his element and they are beautiful...," she trails off, her eyes flitting over to Jin and Yoongi setting the table with the dinner they'd just ordered.
They sit in semi comfortable silence, knowing this moment was the calm before the storm. Bang PD, and Sejin, the boys' manager, would be there any minute for dinner, and they'd discuss everything that happened the day before afterwards. Both the manager and the CEO had been on business in Japan as everything was happening, but had called while she was in the hospital to check in and let the boys know they'd be back as soon as possible. Luna could only assume that after hearing about yesterday's catastrophe that today was that day.
"I have something I want to say before they get here," Luna says and Tae is loudly calling for a family meeting before she could even exhale—apologizing profusely and rubbing the ear he'd accidentally yelled next to.
"Damn boy," she exclaims, fake crying as he kissed the side of her face.
"Yah! Bust her ear from why don't you," Jimin scolds him, plopping down next to them so he could check on her.
JK, on the other side, was scolding him as well, punching him in the side repeatedly for hurting his Noona. They all get a chuckle out of the banter and Luna waits until her ear stops ringing before speaking.
"I just wanted to say that no matter what outcome tonight brings, everything will be okay. I can feel that our emotions are still heightened after everything that's happened and everything feels much, much more...finite than it should. Life is weird right now, and I'll speak for myself when I say that there's this irrational feeling of doom looming over me—but no matter what we decide from here on out, it won't be the end of the world. We've been dealt a shitty hand recently, but I'm a firm believer in the fact that things happen for a reason. We may not always understand why, but all we can do is keep moving forward and be there for each other along the way," she says and everyone agrees, having been feeling similarly.
"There you go taking my lines," Joon huffs, making them laugh.
"Oop, sorry Mr. Leader. I'll be sure to consult with you first next time," she grins, receiving a wink from him.
The doorbell rings and their little moment ceases, all becoming serious again. Although able to view it in a different light, the gravity of the situation was unable to be ignored. The key to their futures with the company lay within the man behind that door and they were okay with that.
A/N: Ending here and hopefully I'll have time to update again Friday 💜
