Chapter 12

December 5

Sky POV:

"Guys this rivalry goes way back. Today is going to be a tough game and they are going to play physical, so look out for each other. Work as a team not as an individual and we will be fine" Geno says to us in the locker room before our Notre Dame game tips off.

"And Paige, they will probably go for you, since whether you like to hear it or not you are the best player on this team, so be careful" he adds

"We got you P" I say looking at Paige as we put our hands in for our cheer

"Yea we all got you" Evina says and everyone agrees putting their hands in too. "Together on 3. 1, 2, 3"

"Together" we all say then jog out of the locker room out to the court as the fans all stand and cheer for us. They announce the starters which is the same it has been for the last few games, Paige, me, Christyn, Evina, and Liv. Paige and I do our handshake and I tell her one more time that we all got her back, before we get into our position for tip off and the game begins.

After the first quarter we are winning 12-16. It's been a sloppy game so far but we've been able to keep the lead. The 4th quarter is where Notre Dame is starting to push us around more.

Notre dame shoots the ball and misses. Paige and I go in to grab the rebound and she gets pushed from behind and falls. Luckily I was able to grab the ball so everyone is heading down the court now. Paige gets up and I give her a look asking if she's okay and she subtly nods her head yes as I pass her the ball and she calls out the play as we jog up the floor.

Once we jog up the floor Paige passes the ball to Christyn who charges the basket, which makes the defense fall in on her, leaving Paige wide open for three. So Christyn turns and passes it back to Paige who shoots a foot away from the 3 point line, making it, as the crowd goes crazy.

A few minutes later Notre Dame has the ball, Paige goes in for the steal and gets the ball, dribbling down the court and right as she's about to go in for the layup she gets tripped from behind. I immediately run up to her and help her up.

"You good?" I ask

"Yea, I'm fine" she says

I can tell she's starting to get annoyed by Notre Dame constantly fouling her though.

I inbound the ball to a wide open Caroline and she shoots a 3, draining it. As the crowd goes crazy extending our lead 44-61 which causes notre dame to call a timeout, as Paige goes over to the student section to hype them up which makes me laugh.

After the timeout, Notre Dame inbounds the ball and they try to shoot a 3 but it hits the rim. Paige goes in for the rebound again and gets elbowed in the neck and collapses. I rush over to her as she's laying on her stomach and grab her shoulder.

"Hey you're okay, I'm here" I tell her as she rolls over onto her back as Evina, Dorka, Christyn, and Caroline all surround her too

"Why do they keep pushing me" she says annoyed extending her hand to get helped up

"I don't know" I say honestly as we all help her up

"You good?" Christyn asks her

"I'm great" she says sarcastically jogging down the court for her free throws.

She makes the first one and misses the second, going in to try to get the rebound but misses, as notre dame gets there before her.

All of us jog back onto defense as she's still running down the court and the notre dame girl dribbling the ball purposely pushes Paige as she crosses half court trying to get into position and Paige goes falling again.
