We woke up the following morning to see that Patricia had already disappeared. Drat, I was hoping to catch her reaction. Oh well~
"Shit!" I paused in the middle of grabbing my clothes for school, looking to see what got Nina suddenly so upset. "I didn't grab anything from the-"
She stops mid sentence as I smirk, holding up two very old and dusty books. Her eyes widening before grinning ear to ear.
"Yes!" She cheered, grabbing the books from my hand. "Thank you thank you thank you!" She repeated before tossing the books on her bed, grabbing my face, and kissing me on the cheek.
The two of us giggle as she lets go, shoving the books into her book bag, and we resume getting ready for school.
I got ready in the bathroom, and once I was dressed, I waited for her by the stairs, the two of us walking down the stairs side by side with looped arms and happy smiles, entering the kitchen were we were met with a round of applause. Jerome being the first one to start before grabbing a muffin. "We were certain Victor was going to get you."
"Yeah, either Victor or the flesh eating zombies." Alfie piped in as Nina and I sat down next to each other, in a spooky voice.
"No zombies." Nina responded. "Mostly rat bones."
"Cool." Alfie said finding that fact fascinating, grabbing a muffin of his own before moving to take a seat at the table.
"Was it really scary up there?" Mara asked, sitting next to Amber, honestly curious of our journey into the attic.
"I thought it would be worse. It was actually kind of cool." Nina said, putting on a brave face now that we're out of harms way, talking herself up. Which she has every right to. "I might just move up there." Ok, I wouldn't go that far.
"Don't you think they were brave?" Amber asked, getting a few nods from the others.
"Even you have to admit Patricia, Nina and Victoria passed your initiation test with flying colors." Oh yeah.. I guess you could consider last night my fake initiation ceremony too.
"No." Patricia scoffed. "She didn't bring anything back did she?"
"Well actually~" Nina trailed off, discreetly passing me a book underneath the table, the two of us smiling as we each held up the dust covered novels.
"Yes!" Alfie cheered and Jerome sent out another round of applause looking impressed and pleased.
Seeing the look on Patricia's face instantly flooded my mind with her actions of last night. The second she looked like she was going to start spouting bullshit, yelling at either Nina or I, I slammed my fists on the table, making everything shake, and everyone fall silent.
I pull out the laptop, and play one of the videos I had gotten recorded when I went into town a while back, after Patricia had said those things to Nina about her Gran.
"Patricia, ENOUGH!!" A woman's voice shouted for me in anger. My facial expressions depicting as such. The sudden voice change taking the house by surprise more-so than the words being shouted if not just as much.
"This has to fucking stop! I know you miss Joy, I miss her too, we all do; but god damn it we're all tired of your complaining, and your bitching and your attitude!"
"You have been nothing but cruel, and heartless and overall just mean to Nina and anyone who doesn't back you up since Joy was pulled from the school, and I'm sick of it!" My body language expressing this for me, as I think of all the shit she's been putting us through. What she did to us last night.
