"So how was your date, Amber?" Nina asked as she and I sat in the lounge area. Amber joining us shortly once class was out.

"It never happened."

Hold on- "What?" Nina voiced our shared thought.

"He stood me up!" Amber exclaimed in disbelief. "Can you believe that? Me? Amber Millington, stood up?"

'Excuse me??' I asked, typing out on the laptop. 'Need me to talk with him? Because I have a few choice words.' My eyes narrowed.

"Awww Victoria, you're so sweet!" Amber gushed. "But no," she shook her head, "if he wants to be childish, then fine. Whatever happens is on him. He'll get what's coming to him."

Ugh, she had to take the fun out of it.

"You know what, good on you, Amber." Nina says proudly. "You don't need him."

"Of course I don't," she says confidently, flipping here hair over her shoulder, "I'm Amber Millington. And no stupid boy is going to get me down."

"Here here!"

I roll my eyes, smiling. I'm friends with absolute dorks, but I love it.

"Victoria, glad you can join us." Mr Winkler said with a warm smile, and I approached him. "Are you feeling better?"

I nodded, smiling softly. He was the only teacher who really seemed to ask and care, while the others just treated me being missing as just your average absentee.

"That's good." He smiled before handing me a booklet. "We started working on this yesterday. The first two pages were done in class, and the circled pages were for homework. Ignore the questions marked with an X beside them."

I nodded in understanding, taking the booklet from him and sit down beside Jerome who raised an eyebrow. "Don't tell me you're just like the rest of the girls, having a thing for Winkler?" He whispered in order to not draw attention.

At this, I started silently gagging before making a face of disgust, shaking my head violently. I started scribbling on a piece of paper as he said 'good', then sliding the sheet over to him.

'1) not my type,

2) illegal

3) weird

4) I don't get why girls seem to fancy him so much, he's not even that good looking.

5) I've had my run-ins with older guys and men in the past, so it's a hard 'no' for me. Traumatic, actually. But I'm sure you can paint the picture.'

As he read this, it stared off with a quirked smile, and a chuckle, before his eyes landed on the last one. His expression becoming more serious, concerned, frighted- even, then just settling on looking like he wanted to murder someone.

I flip the paper over, and write 'I'm ok' in giant letters one top of the other in bold.

With his face scrunched up, the look in his eyes says 'don't lie to me.'

I then make changes to my message, still smiling.

I'm
BR'ok'EN

His eyes stared down at the paper, not taking his eyes off of it. Not until I take his hand in mine below and hidden by our desks. Tangling our fingers together. I take the paper away and hide it in my binder, squeezing Jerome's hand to sooth him. To reassure him that I was ok now that I was here.

It took a moment before his fingers curled, him holding my hand as much as I was holding his. His thumb rubbing up against mine.

Mr. Winkler began the class after taking attendance, going over the homework of last night, correcting it with everyone. And I just fill in the correct answers.

The entire class, Jerome and I are holding hands.

When class got out, I saw Mara talking to Mr Sweet. There was something odd about her interaction. I couldn't make out what she was saying, nor was I all that curious. However it seemed as though she was trying to keep him out of-

I roll my eyes as I catch Patricia sneaking out of it. Never mind, that explains everything. Well almost everything. But I don't want to get into it. Any place that has nothing to do with Patricia is a safe place, her and her reasons for breaking into Sweet's office is a bad place. And I'm not getting roped into that. Not that I could without her attempting to bite my head clean off.

The rest of the day went on as it usually would, now just with the tension between Amber and Mick, the typical tensions and avoidance between Nina, fabian and Patricia, and Alfie oddly staring at Mick. My guess being his jealousy of him and Amber, despite the two not being on the best of terms right now.

Jerome seemed amused, but he always did like chaos, so tension was a free meal for him to fully enjoy.

On our way inside the house, Alfie was bringing up how we should have a movie marathon tonight. Before Jerome and I could say anything, Victor cut us off.

"Coats, bags, now." He demanded as he descended from the stairs. I raise an eyebrow; this was certainly sudden.

"What for?" Alfie questioned.

"I need to search them." Victor answered shortly as he continued to make his way down.

"But we haven't got anything in them." Jerome said, not wanting to hand his bag over for no reason.

"No buts." Victor said sternly. "Give them to me. You can have them back in half an hour." He said as he started collecting our bags and blazers, staring with Alfie.

"What's going on?" Mara asks as she walks through the door, Patricia right behind her.

"We have to have our bags searched." Jerome said, sounding confused, pulling a face, unsure as to why this was happening out of the blue.

"Why?" Patricia jumped in, but got no answers.

Victor held his arm out. "Patricia?"

"No." She said defensively holding her coat and bag closely.

"Something to hide, Patricia?" Victoria inquired, looking smug.

"What's gone missing?" She deflects, not answering his question.

He never said anything went missing...

"Something very valuable indeed," was his reply, as she handed him her coat. "And whoever has taken it is in deep, deep trouble." I take notice of the look on her face. Of course. "Now give."

She begrudgingly handed him her book bag, the two having a bit of a stare down. He knows she's the one who took something, and it has everything to do with why she was in Mr. Sweet's office. Has to be. And he's doing a bag search on everyone not to draw suspicion or cause a scene.

He's probably not even going to look through all the bags, he's just gonna collect them all and hide away for about 30 minutes or so to make it seem like he was.

Ugh, what a waste of time.
