I yawned and leapt from my bed. I shook my tail and stretched time for some midnight mayhem as I liked to call it. I ran to the window and laid my paws on the windowsill. Making sure the coast was clear I quickly opened it and jumped out. I spotted my best friend Dakota waiting for me below. "Hey Dakota" I yipped, transforming into my bipedal form. "Hi Rena, how's it going?" Dakota wagged her tail back at me. I nudged her shoulder and gave a small growl "You know why we have to hunt for something and the canis should be asleep". Dakota transformed into her bipedal form and nodded "I'm all ears, um Rena how do you plan on doing this?". "Well our lovely neighbors, the canis should atleast have something in the back. They leave food out all the time," I giggled. Dakota smirked and nodded "Let's go". We both yipped and clutched the pendant around our necks and a bright red sparkle indicated we were transforming into our creature forms. I lowered myself to the ground and Dakota did the same. Instead of being stealthy in plain sight I had another trick up my sleeves. We slowly readied ourselves on the fence next door. I gave a small wag of my tail and my body began to change into something less noticeable. Me and Dakota didn't need to worry about being spotted anymore just being smelled. Slowly I leapt off the fence and into the open window of the mansion next door. "The canis have no idea what they're in for at least these canis don't" I chuckled. Dakota laughed back before we found our way to the kitchen. "Ok Rena do your stuff" Dakota motioned to the door. I jumped up and noticed the kitchen door had a lock on it. "A little help Kota?" I motioned for her to hoist me up. Dakota nodded and let me climb on her back. I used my claw to pick the lock before tumbling inside. The thing about canis homes is the amount of technology they use to keep their food safe and this house wasn't any different. Being invisible allowed me to see the invisible lasers set up all over the kitchen one wrong move and it'd alert the whole house. I growled and motioned for Dakota to follow me inside. "Hey D you mind getting the lasers dissabled? You know I'm not too good with agility" I gave a small smile. Dakota nodded and I watched as she carefully slid to and fro under each laser beam with ease. Finally she reached the end and jumped upwards to turn off the rest. I smiled and wagged my tail. "Good work Dakota" I laughed. Dakota nodded before grabbing a few chickens from the meat closet and mentioning for me to get out. "Hold up you go I'll be right behind you" I smirked. "Rena don't the lasers will come back on soon" Dakota growled. "I know" I snickered. My fur turned back to its reddish color with hints of grey. This hinted that I was now seeable for everyone else. "Rena" Dakota grumbled. I smirked at her before putting my paw in the laser beam. The alarm going off startled me but that wasn't what I wanted to see. I heard growls from upstairs and that was our queue to leave. I let Dakota go first out the door and climbed up the fence. It had begun to rain but that was just the canis' doing. I felt a sharp pain on my leg and looked down to see a growling canis grabbing onto it with his teeth. "Well this is awkward" I said, my jaws filled with chicken. I kicked him off and wagged my tail in a taunting motion before bounding off. "Fuck you vulpes!" I heard him howl from behind me. That was one thing a canis could never do catch up to a vulpes, especially one with my speed. "Rena, that was dangerous, why'd you do that again!" Dakota complained. "Don't worry Kota I knew I wasn't gonna get caught" I nudged her shoulder. Dakota was the only vulpes in the entire community that actually trusted me. I trotted inside when I arrived at my apartment. The sun was beginning to go up which meant we had succeeded in our little heist. I stretched and yawned before transforming back into my bipedal form. An echo of howls indicated the royal family was awake. This included the alpha canis, his sister and all the others who lived in the palace. I growled looking in the distance at the horrid place. Every vulpes knew that was canis territory and if you crossed those trees it'd be a death sentence. I shook my thoughts away and went to wake my mom. I knocked on the door and wiped any remaining dirt from my clothes. "Rena is that you?" my mom's voice called from the room. I cocked my ears before answering "Yep it's me I brought you breakfast- er I mean made you breakfast". My mom opened the door and motioned me inside "Rena Lupus you can't keep stealing from the canis one day you're gonna get recognized and end up facing the alpha!" My mom whisper-yelled. I rolled my eyes and smiled at her "Well do you want the chicken or not?". My mom's tail wagged the slightest bit which indicated she did indeed. I giggled and handed her the food. "Thanks" was all she replied. I left the room and went to the bathroom to clean up before attending class. I splashed water on my face and began to brush out my hair. It had its normal orange tint with a hint of grey which I tucked away behind my ears. I was ready to go. I transformed into my creature form before leaving.
