Eddie pulled the van into the gas station, "We're gonna need to fill up first." You nodded, "Want anything to drink?" He nodded, "A cherry Icee would be sweet." You smiled and walked into the gas station as he filled up. You helped yourself to two Cherry Icee's and then grabbed a bag of corn-nuts. You told the cashier which pump you were on and paid for everything. On your way back out to the car you saw Dustin, Mike and Lucas biking past you. Dustin came to a halt, waving. You waved back, handing Eddie his drink, "Hey, guys!" Eddie nodded over at them, "Where you guys biking off too?" They pedaled closer, Mike answering, "Oh just biking around town, nothing particular." Dustin hopped off, "How about you? What are you two doing today?" You smiled, "Heading out to the mall. We have some things we need to pick up." Lucas got off his bike, "Ah, man, that sounds like fun!" Dustin nodded quickly in agreement, "Could we come with you guys?"
You shrugged, "I don't see why not. Eddie?" You turned to look at him. He took a sip before leaning back and forth, pretending to really think about it, his hair swinging in the wind, "Well....yeah I guess you three can tag along." Eddie pointed to the payphone, "First you have to call the 'rents and get permission." The three boys quickly rushed over to the payphone arguing over who got to call first. Leaning against the back of the van, you couldn't help but laugh at their commotion. You took in a deep breath taking in the sounds and scenes around you. The wind blew the trees slightly bending to its power. Cars drove by, leaving or entering Hawkins...it was crazy what happened over the past year. Things were definitely different around town now; especially since Star Court Mall caught fire. All those students who died...it made you sad for their families and for them. They had died too young.
Eddie nudged you slightly with his elbow before leaning on you, his hair tickling your shoulder "Whatcha thinkin' about? You've got a sad face going." You looked up at him, his face showing concern. You reached up and placed your hand on his cheek, rubbing your thumb across it, "Just about all those people at Star Court." He nodded, leaning into your hand. He closed his eyes, "Yeah, its pretty fucked up. Glad you weren't there when it happened." You sighed, "Yeah..." He pulled you too him, holding you to his chest as he placed a kiss on the top of your head. Eddie looked over at the guys, "All finished yet?" They nodded and quickly ran back over, "Where should we put our bikes?" Eddie let go of you and opened the back of the van, "I think three bikes will fit okay." You watched in amusement as the four of them began trying to cram all of them in. Once they accomplished the task, Eddie muttered, "Hell yeah!" He clapped his hands together, taking his drink back from you and got in the van. You sat down, turning your head back to them, "Buckle up guys, okay?" They nodded as they did so. Dustin opened his backpack and pulled out waters for them. Eddie started driving off, looking in the rear view mirror, "You drink those..I better not get a bathroom break request for the next hour and a half." You watched as all three of them started putting the caps back on. Eddie turned the music on, "That's what I thought." You shook your head as he drove out onto the street and motioned that it was okay for them to hydrate.
Eventually you did have to stop for a restroom break, but it was your fault. You were now driving through the mall parking lot looking for a decent spot. "Eddie, there!" Dustin shouted, pointing his finger to a spot up ahead, to the left. Eddie sped up and then slammed the breaks, turning into the parking spot. You laughed at how dramatic the two of them were, "Yay! We're here!" You hopped out of the car and took out the envelope your dad had given you last night. You had 150 already so you probably wouldn't need it but you wanted to see how much you had in case some body needed help buying what they wanted. You took out the cash and started counting....that can't be right. You counted again. And again. There was $1000 dollars in that envelope, "Holy shit..." 'Dad must have been going 100 miles per hour to get this kind of bonus.' Eddie put his arm around you, "Holy shit, what?" You shook your head, "N-nothing. Just can't believe I'm going to be making a Red Sonja costume for the dance." He pointed to himself, "And me a Conan. I can't sew baby. It's up too you!" You slapped his chest playfully, "You aren't going to just buy one?" He shrugged, "It'll look better made by you, most likely. Most Halloween costumes are so cheap looking." Dustin, Mike and Lucas were waiting by the end of the van, "YOU'RE GOING AS CONAN AND RED SONYA!!!" They shouted in unison. You rolled your eyes as they continued to fan out with Eddie as the five of you made your way inside. Dustin shook his head, "I'm going to have to step up my costume game if I want to win that contest." You stopped, "There's a contest?" Dustin turned around to talk to you as Eddie opened the glass door for everyone, "Well, yeah. First three places get prizes." You smirked, "Oh its on, now."
