Today officially fucking sucked.
First, you slept through your alarm. Then Chrissy used all the hot water and by the time you got to school, you were nearly late. As if today wasn't going to be hard enough on its own as it was.
Today marked three months since you're father was arrested. Three whole months had passed, yet it felt like yesterday you were watching him get handcuffed and escorted away in the back of the Police wagon.
Three whole whole months since that horrible night, the night you thought your father had officially snapped and tried to kill you. Hell, he probably would've succeeded if you didn't run, but you refused to think about that detail.
So, yeah, today had been shitty from the get go and you may have used football as a way to release your anger. The opposition team weren't too happy about that, but, oh well.
By the time the teacher blew the whistle and shouted it was time to hit the showers, you were exhausted and breathing heavily. The others all rushed to the showers, but you took your time, wanting to wait until they were finished in the showers before you went in. The girls shower block wasn't too bad, each shower had its own stall but there weren't any doors or shower curtains. It was an unwritten rule that you don't look at each other, but you knew people did and you were not comfortable with that.
So, you took your time grabbing your gym bag from the bleachers and pulling out your water bottle taking a giant gulp before heard a set of footsteps walking up towards you.
Figuring it was just a teacher, you didn't turn around as you shoved the bottle back in the bag before a voice that definitely didn't belong to Mr. Daniels filled the air.
"Hey there, princess. How you doing?"
You glanced over your shoulder and was surprised to see that the voice belonged to Eddie Munson. He was now sporting his gym clothes rather than the jeans, vest and leather jacket you had only ever seen him wearing. His hair was also tied back loosely in a messy bun and looked a hell of a lot better than the birds nest that you definitely had after all that running and tackling.
"I'm sweating like a pig actually. Yourself?" You asked, realising that you had been staring at him for a moment too long.
Eddie snorted softly, "now there's a way to get a guys attention, huh?"
"My mission in life." You replied sarcastically. "But, I seemed to have struck your fancy, so you see, it worked. The world makes sense again."
You didn't wait for him to respond before you grabbed your bag and threw it over your shoulders before making your way back towards the building.
"Pick you up on Friday then." Eddie suddenly said, jogging after you. "I can take you places you've never been before."
"Like where? The park bench in the woods where you sell drugs? Yeah, I know about that." You said, glancing over at Eddie who was now walking backwards beside you. "Do you even know my name?"
"I know a lot more than you think."
"I highly doubt that."
You spared him one last look before walking into the building and letting the door close on him.
Why the hell was Eddie Munson trying to ask you out? He didn't even know you. Hell, nobody in this stupid town knew you and for good reason.
For the rest of the day, you couldn't stop thinking about it. And by it, you meant Eddie. He wasn't like the other guys at this school, he was different. But why would he want a girl like you? There were so many other girls that were prettier, smarter, skinnier... there were so many better girls like your sister. Yet for whatever reason he had tried to ask you out. So, why?
