Chapter 2

~At Lunch~

(Y/N)'s Pov

"You didn't tell us you were going here," Rose said as she took a seat beside Jewels.

" Well, I wanted to surprise you," I replied while lightly scratching my cheek and smiling cheekily.

"Did you tell Luka?"

"Nope!" I exclaimed, "I'm going to surprise him."

After catching up on things that occurred in the past few months, it was almost time for class.

"I'm gonna go to the restroom real quick," I said, standing up.

"Do you know where it is?" Jewels ask.

"Yes, don't worry. Go back to class first." "kay, but be quick. Ms. Mendeleiev doesn't like it when students are late."

Aren't all teachers like that? I thought while exiting the cafeteria.

Entering the girl's bathroom, I bumped into someone.

The girl looked irritated but quickly flashed an obviously fake smile, "Oh, sorry about that. Hey, you're the new girl in Ms. Bustier's class, right?" she asked, causing me to nod.

"I knew it! I'm Lila. Do you want to be friends? I can show you around the school. I'm pretty much friends with everyone in the school." she boasts.

Chuckling and entering a stall, I ignored her offer to be friends. I know a mask when I see one, and she's obviously wearing one.

I hear her scoff and leave. If I remember correctly, she was the girl sitting in front of me, besides the tallest guy in the class.

I entered the science room and walked to my seat. I see Lila glaring at me, which I ignore, and take a seat.

A second later, the teacher arrived and started the class.

~Timeskip~

" Okay, here's the plan. First, we arrive at Liberty. Second, you tell Luka something to make him wait on the main deck. Then I'll take it from there. Okay?"

The three of us walk to Jewel's houseboat while I ramble about my plan to surprise Luka.

When we were at the deck, I stopped and asked them to check if Luka was nearby.

Rose gave me a thumbs up, which I returned with a wink.

I hid somewhere on the main deck and signaled them to call him upstairs.

Luka's Pov

Jul and Rose entered as I was strumming my guitar on my bed.

"Hey, Luka!" Rose greeted as Jul nodded.

"Hey, how was school today?" I asked.

"It was okay. We have a new student in the class. That was the only thing new," Jul responded while shrugging.

"Yeah! She's a cool girl. She had homeschooled her whole life," Rose added.

"Homeschool? She suddenly reminds me of (Y/N). Wonder how she's doing?" I muttered to myself.

(Y/N) haven't contacted me for a week now. I hope she's alright.

"Oh, by the way, someone is waiting for you upstairs," "Huh?" "They told me to call you," she added.

I nodded despite my confusion and headed upstairs.

I looked around, only to find no one. "Hmm? There's no one here," I mumbled, turning to go back to my room.

Suddenly, something crashed on my back which made me lose footing.

"Luka!" a familiar voice exclaimed, then the weight was gone.

I sat up and looked at the culprit to see a very familiar face.

"Surprise! I'm back!" (Y/N) announced and pulled me into a bone-crushing hug. I returned it, making her giggle.

"Oh gosh, I missed you so much," she beamed.

"Me too," I smiled at her as she removed her glasses, "Hmm? Did you really?" she questioned with a smirk on her face and one of her eyebrows raised.

"Do you doubt it?"

" Of course not!" she hugged me tighter.

I chuckled, "That's right, you shouldn't. I am your best friend after all". She hummed in agreement.

We heard laughter behind us, "That was a nice reunion," Jul commented.

We laughed as I replied, "It was a bone-crushing reunion," "Hey! I'm not that heavy." (Y/N) huffed. "I meant the hug."

"You should have seen her entrance earlier," Rose started " Yeah, she looked like she owned the place, even wearing her glasses the whole time," Jul added.

(Y/N) chuckled, blushing slightly.

I stood up, pulling her up with me, "Come on, let's go downstairs." Nodding, she grabbed her bag off the floor.

"You guys talk. Rose and I will be going," Jul informed. " Okay, be back before sundown."

"Got it."

(Y/N) immediately sat down on my bed and giggled. I sat beside her, and we decided to talk about the events that happened these past few months, chatting and laughing loudly.

We didn't notice it was already dark until Jul came in.

"I'm back. I'm a bit late since I decided to walk Rose home," she said, "Late?" (Y/N) tilted her head.

Jul looked confused " It's already dark," she answered like she was stating the obvious.

We glance to the window only to see the sun has already set. (Y/N) instantly stood up to rush upstairs.

Noticing she'd forgotten her bag, I grabbed it and followed her upstairs.

"Do you want me to walk you home?" she stopped typing and looked at me, "Is that okay? I mean, it's already dark."

"Of course," I nodded. "We can talk more this way. Come on," she took her bag from me and accepted the offer.

(Y/N)'s Pov

Upon seeing my house, I turned to him, " Thanks for walking me home, caro."

"No problem. See you tomorrow," Luka waved and turned around.

"Text me when you get home!" I yelled after him, "Okay!" he replied with a thumbs up.

Anya greeted me as I entered, "Hey, Anya. Where's Tom?"

"He's in the living room, waiting for you, Miss," she gestured to the living room.

"Thanks," I headed into the living room as Anya nodded.

"Hey Tom, I'm just going to take a shower. Call me when dinner's ready, okay?"

I ran to my room, not bothering to listen to Tom's reply.

I dropped my bag beside my bed. I went into my bathroom and took a shower, just as I said.

After changing into my sleepwear, I answered Luka's text with a 'Great! See you tomorrow.' I went downstairs just as they finished preparing dinner.

"Oh, I was about to call you," Tom said as he noticed me come into the dining room.

I shrugged and replied, "I got hungry," to which he just chuckled.

We ate dinner while we talked about my first day of school.

After that, I bid goodnight to everyone in the house. I brushed my teeth and went to sleep.

It was quite a tiring first day of school. But it was nice seeing my friends.
