                                                                                            Jake

I pulled into the driveway, opening the door to Elena who got out with her arms crossed while I took out her bags. I peered over my shoulder to see her staring at the fountain that took up most of the garden with the sound of water splashing on the ground as the Dhalia plants swayed to the wind. The sunlight reflected from her emerald embers, showing the flame of a thousand years, finally calm.

"Wait until you see it at night" I said as she was snapped from her trance and back to reality

"Yeah ok" She said dazed, I didn't know that a fountain and some flowers could sedate her into such a trance that's enough to take her away from reality.

The warm flame in her eyes burnt out again, as if remembering she can't be vulnerable as she coldly snatched one of her suitcases and dragged it to the house

"You know I can get my people to take that up" I pointed out as she stopped and walked off

I ordered one of my servants to have her bags brought up and went into my mansion, Elena by my side while keeping a good distance away from me. The mystery of why she disliked me still lingered in my mind, peaking my curiosity further. I led her up the grand staircase to the second floor, at a hallway with white walls and floors of marble. I stopped at a door, opening it to reveal a big room with a queen sized bed decked with silk sheets. The room was fully white with a walk in wardrobe stocked with new clothes and a table. At the center of the room, a large balcony jutted out into the beach, sending its salty aroma around the room. Two bookshelves filled with books sat on either side of the balcony.

"My room is down the hall and my office is also close, if you need me you can find me there and I have your personal bodyguard" I explained as a gruff man dressed in black entered the room when I finished

"He's the best trained so you won't have to worry, and if you need to go out somewhere, you can tell him and he will alert me" I finished as she nodded her head as if asking for our departure

Taking the hint, I bid her goodbye and left the room and she shut the door and I left into my office.

By the time the sun set, I left my office after signing some paperwork and knocked on Elena's door- it was quiet- I descended down the staircase, the smell of lasagna wafting up my nostrils. I went to the kitchen to see Elena taking out a large dish of food from the oven, her hair tied up and an apron wrapped around her clothes as she set down the dish. She didn't notice my presence until I pushed out a chair and sat down on the kitchen counter.

"Smells good" I remarked as she just nodded her head

The house was quiet except for the sounds so the beach rolling around to comfort the night. She served me some on a plate and coldly passed it to me before sitting down on the far end of the table.

"We are going to do some training tomorrow, just in case you get attacked" I stated as she perked her focus from her food to my face

"I can already defend myself" She said sternly

"Well, from what Vaughn told me, you are good with knives but I'm talking physical combat" I explained

"Like to see" She growled

"What if you didn't have a gun or a knife, I saw you at the club that night"

"That night never happened" Elena said coldly

"Querida, we all know you can't forget that night, but I was talking about you fighting there, not what you picked up" I chuckled mischeviously

"I can fight perfectly on my own" She said raising her chin
