Hayley's P.O.V

I woke up on Sunday morning to my oh so lovely dog, Mazie,  barking at me. She had woken me up from an odd dream about the guy who just moved in across the hall; Harry. Our conversation yesterday kept repeating in my head as I went into the kitchen and opened my cabinets. Empty. Empty. Empty.

"I guess we need groceries, huh?" I went to my bedroom and looked behind me to see Mazie behind me. I threw on a pair of skinny jeans and a sweatshirt. "I'll be back in a little bit, alright girl?" I said as I headed out my door. I usually brought a list with me but this time I didn't. It didn't surprise me when I forgot half of the things on the list.

After two hours, I got into the apartment building. I went over to the elevator and pushed the button with my elbow. The doors opened and I quickly entered. When I finally got into the apartment I placed the bags onto the counter. I put all of the groceries away and the phone started to ring.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey, Hayley. It's Michael. The TV you ordered came in." Michael, the man who runs the desk, told me.

"Alright I'll be right down." I told him and I hung up the phone. I walked out of my apartment and went down to the lobby.

"Are you sure you can carry that by yourself?" Michael asked me for the tenth time after I had picked up the TV.

"Yeah I can." I said struggling to get to the elevator. I pushed the button again and the doors opened very quickly. I got in and went straight to my floor.

I finally got to my door and began to scavenge for my key. I propped the TV against the wall and my hip to look for my keys better. Soon, it began to slip and before I could catch it I heard "Ow! My foot!" I looked up and saw Harry standing there holding his foot.

"Is this how you treat all of your new neighbors? By dropping a TV on their foot?" Harry asked, trying to laugh the pain off.

"I am so sorry Harry! It was a total accident, I swear!" I said, covering my mouth with my hands.

"Are you locked out?" Harry asked, ignoring the fact I had just dropped a TV on his foot.

"Yeah, I think I left my key in my room and my dad is out of town for a conference until next Wednesday." I said, sighing.

"You could come in to my place if you want." Harry said unlocking and holding open the door. I thought about it over in my head for a bit and decided it was my only option right now.

"Yeah, sure. Thanks." I picked up the TV and brought it into Harry's apartment while he closed the door behind me. I set down the TV and looked up to find Harry in the living room. I took off my shoes and entered it.

"Make yourself comfortable Hayley." Harry told me as he lit a fire in the fireplace. I took a seat on the couch and Harry stood up. "I'll be right back." Harry said as he limped off to the back of his apartment. I saw Harry's limp and I knew it was my fault. I felt like I should make up for almost breaking his foot so I start raiding his cupboards for anything I could find.

It took me about half an hour to pan sear some pork chops and get the Chinese noodles with sesame and soy sauce done. I set it up on the dining table with a note; " Sorry about your foot."

I hear a door open and then a few seconds later I see a quiff of some sort of curls. Harry looked a bit shock for a second as he saw the food and read the note. I smiled at him and he smiled back. "You didn't have to do this, Hayley. My foot is fine." Harry said, lying.

"I saw your limp Harry, there's no point in lying." I argued back.

"Alright, fine. You caught me, but you didn't have to cook me dinner." Harry said.

"I kinda did. I almost broke your foot and you're letting me hang out here until I can get to my dad to get me another key. I should actually probably call my friend and see if I can stay with her because it will probably be a while until he can." I said, thinking out loud.

"You can just stay here, don't worry about it. Now, how about we sit down and enjoy this meal?" Harry said, coming over to my side and pulling a chair out for me. There was never an awkward moment talking to Harry. When we were done dinner he helped me clean the kitchen.

"Alright, so I will crash on the couch and you can have my bed. Don't try to argue. You can find my t-shirts and sweats in the drawers on the left." Harry said after we had finished the dishes. I couldn't argue so I just went into Harry's room and found a white t-shirt and grey sweats. I began to take off my shirt when there was a knock on the door.

"Can I come in for a second?" Harry asked from outside the door. I pulled my shirt back over my torso and faced the door.

"Sure."

"Just came for my pillow." Harry said, limping into the room.

"You know, your bed seems too big for just me. Why don't we share it?" I asked, looking at Harry's king sized bed. We would have plenty of room.

"Alright, if your cool with that." He says. I went into the bathroom with the clothes Harry had lent me and changed. Then I walked back into the room with Harry watching me. I jumped into the bed and went under the covers. Harry took off his shirt and I didn't realize but I was staring. I didn't realise how many tattoos he had. Sure I had seen some on his arms, but I didn't know how many of them he had. He went to the other side of the room and turned off the light and then I felt the other side of the bed dip. You're okay, Hayley. I reassured myself. I felt my breathing speed up and I couldn't help it. Stop it. Harry is a nice guy. He isn't going to hurt you. You're okay.

"I am so cold." I blurted out. I didn't mean to but I did.

"Well I'm really warm." Harry offered, moving closer to me. Harry is a nice guy. Calm down. Just go sleep near him. He's warm.

I went over close to Harry and rested my head on his chest. He put his arm around me and set his hand on my hip. Alarm bells started going off in my head. Hayley! Hayley!

I shot up and stood up. My heart was beating thirty miles a minute and tears were welling up in my eyes. I can't do this. Ican't do this.

I ran out of the room to get some water from the kitchen and hoped that Harry didn't notice the abrupt movement. Who was I kidding? Of course he knew. I tried to calm myself down and grabbed a glass. I filled it with water and took a sip. It wasn't working! I wasn't calming down! Hayley, calm down! All of a sudden I saw the glass flying through the air and hitting the floor. It shattered into a million pieces and I slid down to the floor. The tears were running down my face and I couldn't stop them.

"Hayley?" Harry asked, running to the kitchen door. He saw the glass and stopped. I pulled my knees up to my chest and cried into them. Soon, I felt Harry's presence next to me. He slowly pulled me into his lap and let me cry against his chest. Soon, I fell asleep and actually felt comfortable for the first time in a while.
