I opened my eyes and look around my familiar room. Groaning, I got out of bed and headed straight to the bathroom to brush my teeth.
When I finished, I walked to the living room and saw Dylan still crashed on the couch, with Mazie laying on her stomach. Dylan had been the only friend who had ever stuck with me. He was like the brother I had always wanted. He was always there for me and when he needed me, I was there for him too.
I'm glad someone is getting sleep in this apartment because I sure didn't. I have also realized my night terrors have been getting worse and worse over the past few years. The only days I slept peacefully was that day I crashed at Harry's. Then I figured out he's a dick.
"Dyl, get up." I said, poking him. Mazie shot off of his chest and ran to me. "Hi, girl."
"Why do I have to get up?" He groaned, throwing the pillow over his head. I picked it up and he threw his hand over his eyes.
"We're going to breakfast and then you're going home." I said sternly, walking over to the windows and opening the curtains.
"Don't do it! I'm up!" Dylan screamed suddenly, shooting up from the couch. "I'm up." He said in a normal voice.
"Good. Go get a shower and I'll change and we'll go to breakfast." I said walking away from Dylan and going into my room with Mazie following me. I went to my closet and began to browse through my clothes.
I decided to be lazy and picked out a grey sweatshirt, black skinny jeans, black vans, and a long necklace. I then put my hair up into a messy bun and walked out to let Mazie out onto the balcony.
"Hey," Dylan said when he saw me. "Did I leave some extra clothes here?" He asked. I laughed.
"I have a whole drawer full of your clothes, doofus." I said, opening the glass door and letting Mazie run out.
"Thanks." He said in a sarcastic tone before going into my room. A Minute later he came out in a grey shirt with the sleeves rolled up, jeans rolled at the bottom and black vans.
"Can we go?" I asked, looking at Dylan. Mazie scratched at the door and I let her back in. "I'm starved."
"Sure. Bye Mazie." He said, bending down to pet Mazie. I grabbed my keys and walked over to the door. I opened it and Dylan was right behind me.
"Be good, girl." I said to Mazie before stepping out and locking the door behind Dylan. We walked down the hallway and got onto the elevator.
"Do you think my mom will want me back home?" Dylan asked suddenly, rubbing the back of his neck.
Dylan and his mom had a falling out a few days ago and that's why he had been staying at my place. Ever since Dylan's dad left them a year ago, things haven't been the same between him and his mom. They constantly fight and argue about the smallest (and dumbest) things.
"Dyl, even though your mom is going through something a little tough right now, you will always be her little boy. She will always want you at home." I said as the elevator doors opened. We stepped off and walked to the parking deck in silence.
When Dylan and I got in the car I turned to look at him.
"She still loves you, and honestly she needs you more now than ever." I smiled sympathetically at him.
"Thanks, Hay." He said, leaning over the console and giving me a hug. "Now lets go eat. You're starved." He said, mocking me.
I pulled into the parking lot of the small donut shop by my apartment building. They were a very small business but they had the best donuts in all of New York.
