You Again?

A/N: heyyyy me again. I know its been a while since I last updated but it was mainly because I couldn't decide if I wanted to keep the book to the storyline of season 2 and in the end I decided against it. I just wanted a cute Lumax story without dustin or mike getting in the way, sorry if thay bugs you!

I marched back to my desk and set my bag down. Well I sarcastically thought to myself getting knocked over on the way to class! Oh, and being caught by a random kid! Finally I get to scratch it off my bucket list! I pushed my hair behind my ears and continued to listen to the psycho who was leading the class, out of the corner of my eyes I saw the boy who caught me staring at me, particularly where a covered up bruise was. I quickly moved my hair back over my face and tried to ignore him. Look away. Please look away. Unfortunately this kid isn't a mindreader and couldn't get the hint I wanted him to look away. After a nudge from his pale friend he finally turned. Where would the world be without pale kids with bowl cuts?

After a painstakingly long lesson filled with analogies to sailing I was packing up my bag again. While I was doing so I saw the chocolate brown boy approach me while repeatedly staring back at his friends who looked ready to throw him into the quarry. He waited patiently while I pretended not to notice him. But I was running out of things to put in my bag so I finally faced him.

His eyes widened and he stuttered over his words, "Hi!" He said a little to loud with a small wave of his hand.

I rose from my seat and slung my bag over my shoulder. "...Hi" I hesitantly spoke. He smile brightly.

"I'm Lucas Sinclair..." He said still grinning wildly. He didn't say anything so I figured it was my turn to speak.

"Max." I showed no expression on my face. Now was not the time to make friends, I have to find a way to strangle Niel, throw Billy in a dumpster, go back to california, and eat a corn dog. So no. No time to make friends with ghostbusters. My schedule is full.

"So-so I was wondering..." He said slowly while I raised an unimpressed eyebrow. "If you would want to join me and my friends in trick or treating tonight. Behind him the pale kid did a dramatic facepalm.

"Oh?" I responded, Not wanting to turn any friends down but wanting him to get the hint. Isn't it obvious that I can't make any friends until I can escape to California? I'm pretty much an open book so whats the problem? I joked to myself.

"Just because there are a lot of bullies- and youre new so youre like a target for them so I figured you'd want to come with us because youre scared of bullies..." He said in a rush. I looked behind him to his fuming friend. The other two boys seemed to be trying to reason with him but he wasn't budging. His glare remained focused on me.

"You sure your friends are okay with this?" I asked when the pale boy slapped the curly haired boy's hand away when he tried to place it on his shoulder. Lucas turned slowly and returned with a nervous grin.

"Our party's a democracy so yeah, they're cool."

"Oh I didn't realize trick or treating with you was such an honor." I sarcastically replied. Shoving the last notebook under my arm. He tried to make up some random excuse or something about his status and bullies but I had to move on.

" that's presumptuous of you." I mumbled and continued walking. I maneuvered around his friends and walked to my next class. After a few miserable classes, one I shared with Lucas, I walked into the lunch room and to an empty table. Lucas had waved me over to him but by the way the raven haired boy was glaring I discovered ghostbusters might not make amazing lunch company. Who knew?

I sat alone and had a sudden urge to leave the lunch room when coincidentally Lucas started walking over. Huh. Weird.

I ran out of the school and to the highschool across the street. I was going to wait for Billy at the car but I git thirsty after a while. I trudged into the highschool and to the water fountain. I knew that Billy had a basketball game going on so I ignored the yelling and whistles from the gym. I walked past a set of doors and a tall boy with fluffy brown hair stumbled out. He was wearing a gym uniform and was sweating so I guessed he was one of Billy's victims. He trudged to the water fountain with me trailing behind him. He was angrily muttering to himself, "Stupid Billy... Basketball..." I caught his ranting. He stopped and ducked down to drink the water while I silently waited for him to finish. I quickly got bored of being patient and I spoke up.

"Sorry my brothers giving you hell." The boy jumped when he heard my voice and turned around. His eyes were wide but he took a deep breath and eyed my up and down.

"Youre a kid." He breathlessly said.

"You don't say." I rolled my eyes and pushed him aside to drink the water but he didn't walk away, he studied me. "Your Billy's sister?"

"Yup." I ducked back to consume more water. "Why do you want to file a complaint?" I sarcastically replied.

"No..." He trailed off.

"Well I do." I said wiping excess water from my face. "Try living with him... Whats your name?" I finally asked.

"Steve Harrington."

"OoOooh. Steve, whelp I wish I could say that he would leave you alone soon but all he's been muttering about is 'king steve' So watch out I guess."

"Noted." He chuckled. "And your name?" He leaned against the lockers.

"Max."

"Nice to meet you. Now I've got to go back to your brother." He stopped for a moment and turned back to me. "What are you doing in the highschool?"

I was about to come up with some lie but I ended up telling the truth. Whats this random guy gonna do? "Hiding." I looked down and bit my lip. Stupid. I expected him to scoff and got back to basketball but he did something different.

He laughed.

"Been there. You should probably head back to the middle school though.'' I nodded. Still shocked by his casual reaction to my cowardness. Billy would have laughed and called me and idiot or something. I don't know. " i gotta head back to tour brother. See you around."

"Step brother." I replied angrily. He nodded and walked back to the doors. "And Steve." He turned back when I called to him, with furrowed brows "Don't hesitate to give him hell." I walked past him and he gave me a smile while nodding.

A/N: Yay steve being a big brother figure for max! Thank you for reading! Sorry this one didn't have much Lumax but I wanted to add steve to the story for future conveniences. Thank you! Bye!
