"Oh my gosh! You look stunning!" The bridal party's excited exclamations and adoring glances make you smile. Despite the fairy-tale hype, your childhood dreams didn't revolve around this day-dating was more drama than romance, far from the Hollywood script.Meeting Jin, however, made every heartbreak and moment of childish drama worth it. His presence was like cream in your coffee, softening the chaos within you. He was a steadfast pillar, a patient listener, and a constant source of strength. He believed in you even when you didn't believe in yourself.
The proposal was one of the most stressful events of your life, but it would make a great story for your future kids. Maybe you'd tweak the part about having a meltdown in a sub shop, but everything else was perfect.
"Well my youngest, are you ready?" Your father's eyes glisten with emotion as he looks at you.
You quickly avert your gaze to the ceiling, feeling the bobby pins digging into your scalp. "Don't cry, Daddy! You'll make me cry, and I'll ruin my makeup!" You pout, trying to hold back your own tears.
"Sorry, sorry, you just..." he sniffs, clearing his throat and puffing out his chest, "you look beautiful. My baby girl." He touches a thumb under your eye to catch a stray tear.
"Ready?" he asks again, and doubts flit through your mind.
Jin, ever your anchor, reassuring you yesterday after the rehearsal dinner that there was nothing to worry about fills your thoughts.
"I love you so much, Jellybean. Sometimes it hurts knowing I can't fully express what you mean to me." Jin tucks a piece of hair behind your ear and holds the back of your neck, his eyes locked on yours.
"Baby, I love you so much. Just the thought of life without you is torture. I'd die."
"Shut up, don't say that!" You argue, playfully smacking his chest.
His eyebrows lift, eyes wide, and lips pouty. "I'm serious. You're my left lung, my right kidney, and both eyeballs, baby! Without you, l'd be lost, or not really."He grins as you laugh, your nerves dissipating. He vows to make you laugh and only shed happy tears, if any at all.
You quiet when his chuckles fade. Even after all this time, he can still make you blush. "Stop looking at me like that, Kim."
"Like what? Like you're my world? Never." He quips, kissing you quickly and passionately.
"Tell me again why we can't sleep together tonight?"
He whines, his fingers tracing down your sides to your waist. The cool satin of your dress warms under his touch.
"Because it's bad luck." You explain, pulling his hand back to your waist when he tries to touch your backside. "Jin, stop that, our parents are still here!" You hiss, trying to wriggle free.
"We don't need luck, Jellybean. In every version of this life, I'll always be by your side. No one else's." And you'd be by his, no matter the life.
"Yes, I'm ready." You take your bouquet from your cousin and let Megan adjust your train before moving back to stand beside Namjoon. He winks at you as the orchestra begins to play.
The song's beauty fades as the pounding of your heart fills your ears.
Your father's hand rests on your shoulder, his mustache hiding a confident smile. "There's no one more worthy, honey." He whispers, linking your arm with his and leading you toward the double doors.
