The Black Phone Chapter Seventeen

It had been a couple of days since we left the hospital, apparently everything is over, the
only thing left for me and Robin to deal with is the trauma of being kidnapped and abused
for almost two weeks. And I haven ́t seen Robin since the hospital.

-Finn ---It was my father--- How do you feel? Do you want to talk or something?

-I just want to know what the nurse told you.

My dad came in and sat on the edge of my bed. -Apparently the results of your tests say
that you are fine, within what is possible you will be able to lead a normal life, this
experience will not affect you in the future.

-And what about Robin?

My dad let out a sigh. -It's complicated, Finn.

-What do you mean?

-Robin didn't tell you anything about his
experience?
Of course Robin had told me.

-No dad.

My dad ran his hands over his face in frustration.

-Robin was physically and sexually abused. He told the nurse how that man used to hit
him everywhere and until he passed out. And other things I don't feel comfortable telling
you. This whole situation made me think that maybe I ́m not the best father.

He said, and tears began to show. I rushed over and gave him a hug.

-It's ok dad, you've been through a lot, like everyone in this family. ---Despite dad's
punishments, Gwen and I didn't hate him, we respected him because despite everything,
after mom's death he did everything so that we never lacked anything.

-I love you very much my son. Now I'm going to cook you some dinner.

He said and left my room.

The next morning, I was getting ready for school, I was so nervous, I didn't want people to
ask questions about what happened, I didn't even know if Robin was going to go to school,
since he had it much harder than me and he needed more time to recover. Gwen and I left the house and went to school, I had a certain distrust in people now, it wasn't the same
anymore, but I didn't want to live in fear so I tried to hide my nerves as much as possible.

On the way I decided to go quickly to Robin's house, just to see how he was. I told Gwen
to go ahead, that I would stop by to see how Robin was doing.

I walked over and knocked on the door, and almost instantly was greeted by Robin's mom.
-Oh hello Finney. -- I didn't recognize her, when I met Robin's mom she was always
smiling, laughing hard and always had a glimmer of light in her green eyes, now it seemed
like she hadn't slept in quite some time, her eyes were swollen and full of dark circles
However, she still kept a friendly smile.

-What can I do for you?

-Good morning Mrs. Maria. sorry for bother you this early, just wanted to know if Robin
would be coming to school today.

-Oh, yes, he is almost ready, if you like to come and wait for him in the kitchen. I can serve
you a cup of coffee while you wait.

-Of course, Mrs. Arellano, thank you. --- She gave me a smile and invited me in,
I could see how she had greatly improved her English.
