Song: Uptown Girl- Billy Joel

Bruce Yamada

THE PHONE RANG FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROOM.

Jade jumped ever so slightly at this. Wasn't the phone broken? How was it working? It wasn't even connected to anything..

Finney snapped his head towards it, racing over and picking up the phone before Jade got the chance.

"Hello?" He said into the phone.

Jade came over as well, listening into the phone as it made a clicking noise.

"Hello?" He repeated.

The phone made creaking noises— which made both the siblings shiver. "Stop it," Finney said.

"Stop what?"

Jade gasped, turning around to see The Grabber staring at them.

"We're hungry," Jade said.

"We need food," Finney added.

Jade grabbed the phone from Finney and hung it up. He didn't notice, as his eyes were set on the kidnapper.

"How are your eyes?" He said to Finney. The Grabber already knew Jade's had healed, but his, he didn't know.

"They hurt—" Finney said.

He sighed. "Well I can't bring you guys anything to eat.."

"..you'll have to wait."

Finney stepped away from the phone. "Is there someone upstairs who will see you bring us food?"

"Don't you worry about that."

Jade felt dizzy. She sat down on the mattress, putting a hand up to her head. It throbbed.

The Grabber watched her. Although still speaking to Finney.

"If you weren't going to feed us, why'd you even come down here?" She asked him, making eye contact with him, her face in a painful expression.

"Just to look at you.. I just wanted to look at you both."

"I'll go."

He stood up and quickly walked out, slamming the door shut.

"Are you okay Jade?" He asked his sister, sitting down next to her.

She nodded. "Yeah, my head is just—" she winced at the pain. "It hurts."

The phone rang again. Finney stood up adruptly, walking over. "Hello? Is somebody there?" He called out into the phone.

"I need help. My sister and I.. we've been," the phone made clicking noises once again, cutting Finney off.

"Hello?"

The phone crackled as someone whispered into the reciever. "Finney.."

Finney gasped loudly, hanging up the phone and stumbling backwards.

"Are you okay?" Jade stood up slowly. "Someone answered. Didn't they?"

The phone rang again. Jade glanced at Finney, and back at the phone. She picked it up, staying silent— waiting for a voice to appear.

"Don't hang up," a boy's voice said. It sounded.. slightly familiar, but because of the static, Jade couldn't figure out who it was.

"I won't. It isn't Finney.. it's his sister.."

"Who is this?" She questioned, glaring at her brother as she spoke into the phone.

"I don't remember my name."
